switzer! from scuba suit on 2001-08-31 17:14 [#00028227]

Im am not a big Aphex fan, mainly because I have not heard
his stuff much, except for come to daddy, and it didnt
really impress me.. What is a good Album or a better track
he did that will give me a better impression of his talent..

teapot from brisbane on 2001-08-31 17:17 [#00028229]

my favorite track is : Pancake Lizard
:)

Justin Schiz from Aphex on 2001-08-31 17:23 [#00028231]

Okay, I haven't doubts... try to listen "Arched Maid Via
RDJ" from Hangable Autobulb2.

I suggest also Girl Boy song from Richard D. James album and
Heliosphan from Selected Ambient Works 85-92.

About the album is very difficult becasue I don't know what
is your favourite kind of sound... anyway try to listen
"Selected Ambient Works (85-92)".

ah, you cant even wait for drukqs to get released?
im not downloading it... i love catching the bus home after
buying an important cd... looking at the artwork...
anticipating the music...

...beats the crap outta 'click' 'download' yay...

Justin Schiz from Aphex on 2001-08-31 17:30 [#00028234]

i was joking with the Eric Satie thing.

my fav track is Bucelahpualas Bouncing Ball or however you
spell it :(.

Archrival from NY on 2001-08-31 18:08 [#00028249]

Album = Drukqs
Track = Alberto Balsalm

balthus from europe on 2001-08-31 18:36 [#00028257]

well, come to daddy is one of my favourite aphex things but
apart from that...

album: maybe selected ambient works II or the Richard D.
James Album

track: nannou, polynomial-c, blue calx, beetles, pancake
lizard, logon rock witch

i love satie's deuxiéme nocturne, too, but it's not aphex,
isn't it? or is it like this: erik satie is actually an
invention of aphex?

pieces froides, trois morceaux en forme de poire, le fils
des etoiles, enfantillages pittoresques by eric are some of
my other favourite satie pieces apart from the nocturnes.

balthus from europe on 2001-08-31 18:38 [#00028260]

umm, forgot to mention some tracks: yellow calx, track#1
from sawii, girl boy, icct hedral (philip glass
orchestration)

balthus from europe on 2001-08-31 18:40 [#00028263]

my favourite album at the end of october: drukqs (i heard so
many great things about it, so it could be that this will be
my favourite...)

teapot from brisbane on 2001-08-31 18:43 [#00028265]

do you think we might see a video for any of the drukqs
tracks ?

switzer! from scuba suit on 2001-08-31 21:04 [#00028281]

go out and waste money on gee thanks

LeMoN on 2001-08-31 21:15 [#00028284]

Richard D. James album is his best album. Simple really.

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-31 21:31 [#00028288]

drukqs as of right now is my favourite. drukqs and SAW II.

fav song? nannou i suppose. there's a ton but that's one of
them.

Jaffa Kid from Newcastle on 2001-09-01 00:28 [#00028303]

Don't start with Drukqs, start with Selected Ambient Works
1985-92, through Polygon Window and beyond....if you start
with Drukqs it won't work (maybe for people who have been
listening to the guy from the beginning it will) ....Not
being elitist, just I know if I was getting into AFX I'd
want to start with something fairly accessible, it takes
awhile to get your head around his later stuff......I know,
I have friends who arestill getting their heads around SAW1
:)

LeMoN on 2001-09-01 00:57 [#00028305]

Hey, I had never listened to IDM in my life, and i started
off with the RDJ album...it was a changing point for me in
my life, the album fucked with my head like no other...

trevor from U.S.A. on 2001-09-01 01:42 [#00028306]

IZ-US from come to daddy

it is the sexiest damn song ever i just love it

Jaffa Kid from Newcastle on 2001-09-01 01:58 [#00028309]

"IDM".........aaaahhhhh.....

That's cool by the way Lemon, just talking about my mates
who still listen to "Disintegration" by the Cure and think
that is the be all and end all of music from now until
eternity.......personal preference I guess....we aren't all
alike:)

oysterclam from brooklyn on 2001-09-01 06:46 [#00028349]

saw2 when i feel like i do now and rdj when i dont

cydonia from skopje on 2001-09-01 11:01 [#00028393]

There are many Aphex Twin great songs, as there are many
songs from Aphex that are just very ordinary, simple and
sometimes boring to listen to: like Elephant Song, or, if
you ask me, the most of the Classics cd. Actually, I only
like Alalogue Bubblebath 1 from Classics. However, the first
song from Selected Ambient Works 2 (known as "cliffs"), for
me, stands out from all of his other albums, songs and
music. It's one of the deepest, most emotional, strangest
and very simple songs at the same time that I've ever heard.
I guess for me that's the best Aphex song.

mommentum from Skopje on 2001-09-01 13:28 [#00028447]

I used to worship the I care because you do / Alberto
Balsalm combo =)

but then again..

Classics/Dodeccaheedron
SAWI/Actium
Windowlicker/Nannou
and some stuff from Drukqs

might be solid representatives =)

Super Magnetic Neo from Australia on 2001-09-01 13:29 [#00028449]

Fave album: Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Fave track: Alberto Balsalm.

But it changes from time to time...

João Evangelista from Portugal on 2001-09-01 15:58 [#00028471]

Album: "...I care because you do"
Song: today it's "Heliosphan" from SAW 85-92

LeMoN on 2001-09-01 20:10 [#00028515]

I prefer Rhubarb from SAWII over Cliffs...sheer bliss, if
there was a heaven, Rhubarb is what i imagine it would sound
like...oh, and Classics is fucking crap, I imagine it was
named Classics as some sort of sick joke, only song i really
enjoy from that collection is Polynomial-c, which i consider
one of his best songs incedently...

trevor from U.S.A. on 2001-09-01 20:40 [#00028520]

i love saw II but it got stolen frome me so i only have disk
two, but it keeps me going. i can't find it anywhere i will
just have to special order it

Dave on 2001-09-01 22:02 [#00028533]

a deliciously impossible question to answer!! regardless,

album: SAW1
track: mookid

neuromancer from cheltenham on 2001-09-01 23:24 [#00028547]

one track no one mentions from 'Analogue Bubblebath 3'
called '(CAT 00897-AA1)' is sheer ambient bliss.
