Radiohead - Amnesiac

1. Why do some people consider it a weaker version of Kid
A?

(I disagree with that assumption, I think it's a nice album
with it's own ideas and execution)

2. "Pyramid Song" is one of their best songs ever PERIOD

3. Why "Hunting Bears"?

Any suggestions, comments, insults welcome... :)

I kind of see Kid A and Amnesiac as two parts of the same
project, as if it were a double cd..

I mean, they both are unique but still complement each
other.

I love Amnesiac...its something completely different but it
still has the Radiohead feel to it....I love it. There isnt
one Radiohead I dont like.

when i first heard amnesiac i thought it sucked, and thought
pyramid song was the best song ever, recently i started to
really like the other songs on it, as well as pyramid song.
im like that with a lot of cds , they grow on me with my
moods but i think it can still hold its own as a radiohead
release, although im no expert

I think amnesiac is ok in parts,.. but definately the worst
release radiohead have ever put out which still makes it
better than pretty much everything else out there in the pop
rock department

oh wait,.. pablo honey sucked too :P

i dont think the sound the same at all. amnesiac is
heavier, not that it's a heavy album at all though.

Im finding all of Radiohead's songs to be awesome...even
Pablo Honey is cool...well most of it. I don't like that
Iron Lung EP...i don't like that stuff.

Amnesiac isn't that heavy for me. Kid A is though.
probably their heaviest for me. sounds like they went
through a depression and really didn't want to use their
instruments and relied on computers a lot. in fact maybe
thats why they used a lot of computers on it? i can see
that there must have been a lot of weight on their sholders
after OK Computer...i mean how do you top that? only thing
to do is go into another direction..maybe thats it.

i think it's best not to appraoch music creation with the
idea that you have to live up to a previous release or make
a better one or make something different or whatever. past
music should have nothing to do with it. one should just
make what they are inspired to make. it's not a game, it's
music.

I thought it was a bit uneven at first, inconsistent, it's
pretty eclectic. But a few of the songs are really
amazing... Knives Out and Pyramid Song may be my two
favorite tracks by them. But there's a hanful of tracks that
I skip, wheras OK Computer had none and Kid A had only
one...

Treefingers. Off Amnesiac, I skip Hunting Bears, Packt, and
Pulk/Pull. Three, yikes! And I'm not too fond of Life in a
Glasshouse.

you skip pakt? it's one of the best tracks on there!

this is pure heresy!

WORST SONG EVER=MORNING BELL\AMNESIAC

Ruins the whole album, i cant believe its so bad, why in
gods name would they remix a song from kid a and ALSO make a
horrible song. why does everyone hate pulk\pull and hunting
bears, I like both a lot. and Packt... is probably one of
the best on the album.

Agreed. It blows the entire album out of whack, I usually
just skip it...

i love both kid A and amnesiac and while they were released
around the same time i accept them at two separate, distinct
& EXCELLENT radiohead albums.

people feel the need to complain about a lot of things and i
look at any complaints like:
- they shoulda released them as a double CD
- they wanted to make more money so they released them
separately

blah blah blah....etc etc etc
as just another excuse to pick on radiohead because they
didn't make another CD like OK computer. for a lot of
radiohead fans, that was the seminal album and anything that
diverages from that is shite......and IMO thats a bunch of
SHITE =0)

(my .02 cents)

no one should release double albums. there are so few
artists that can pull this off.

my 2 bucks.

If Radiohead made another OK Computer, I doubt people here
would care about them anymore...

There's nothing worse than watching a promising artist rise
to artistic heights and then feed off it...

Right Moby... :P

;)

Kid A and Amnesiac both have their share of shit.

But I like Amnesiac better, probably because of Knives Out,
You and Whose Army, Life in a Glass House, Pyramid Song...I
dunno, they're both good.

agreed.......but i've found that a lot of people HATE
change.....and doesn't matter if it's aphex, radiohead, the
roots.....etc.....but it seems to be a general
disappointment when they go in a different direction than
the one everyone fell in love with.

i think thats why i admire U2(amoung others)....they've
wandered off to the EDGE.....(no pun intended) made some
mis-steps (IMO) and found their way back to making GREAT and
different music that their fans enjoy.

i dunno......every artist makes crap songs/albums.....and i
have my own fav's and NON-fav's, but i think that overall
quality should be recognized if not always appreciated by
all. =0)

"but i've found that a lot of people HATE
change"

it's weird, because the 'general' reaction of this mb when
an artist doesnt change enough their style and reuse their
old style, people complain (ie, drukqs), and people also
complain when artists seems to change too much too (ie,
confield). it's rare that people are ever satisfied. if
they are, it takes a while. i think that most people now
love drukqs and confield.

just an observation.

That wasn't the huge step lots of people made it out to be.
Actually, that was a culmination of everything Ae did from
Chiastic Slide onward...

i think people like to COMPLAIN.....hahahahha

i'm not saying i'm immune to that (i complain too), but
negativity seems to be a natural state for a lot of
people.....

sometimes i think we all need to take stock and READ what we
write day in and day out, sometimes we follow a patterns
that we don't notice, but others do from a distance.

i dont think so too, it sounds like the logical step forward
in their evolution path. but most people thought it was a
pretty drastic change. but i can see why they might see it
like that though.

and ive done my fair share of complaining too, i must
admit...

there isn't one bad song on any of their 4 albums or the
airbag ep. my iron lung has lozenge of love and lewis
(mistreated) which i'm not a big fan of. i'm sorry some of
you don't appreciate lp's 4 and 5 but i don't think
radiohead could've done anything better, musically or
strategically (i don't mean marketing, i mean the
progression of their art). yay for radiohead.

i cannot stand pulk! terrible amateurish tripe.
but it doesn't matter, as Like Spinning Plates is on this
album, and that is their best song, period.

Pulk/pull is alright, I hated it at first but now I kinda
like it. Hunting Bears I never did get. Life in a Glass
House is one of my all time favorites. Amnesiac and Kid A
are both neat, but right now I'm stuck on The Bends for some
reason. Totally different style. They're cool cause you can
hear their feelings. That makes me happy. Happy slappy "I
just do music" bands piss me off.
