For those here that are good at volume control and EQ adjustments...i need your help!
So the church I go to asked me to help with the sound. Tonight was practice and my first time at that particular church. Ive done sound in the past but the board was smaller and there were less people.
The problem was this. Everything sounded really tinny. The main guitar had this californian type twang sound ... kinda wavey .. and I couldnt for the life of me do anything to it. the guy said it might be his cords im not sure. And the piano got in with everything and it pretty much sounded .. not good. wasn't bad but i hated that guitar effect. we had drums going and the guy was pretty loud on those. and the vocals were all beheath this.
Is there anything you guys could help with? Are there any checking procedures? How do you stop tinniness?
Any help on getting started would be great.

don't mic drums in a church... it's not a rock concert...
flat response on the guitar... if he has a powerful enough amp, i'd really only mic the vocals because of the mixing... if everything in the room is amplified and then picked up with another microphone & put out on a P.A. that's way too much stuff in your hands. The thing I'd really only be worried about is getting the vocals blended in with the rest of the group. If you have a piano, which I remember reading about, you'd probably only use two microphones on that... both aligned on the bassy/middle range sound hole and the other mic on the treble sound hole.
like I said, only mic the vocals and the keyboard... the other players can adjust
