I reckon Rob Playford was the brains behind Timeless. I
mean, what has he produced since?

That said, I appreciated his work in Eastenders.

Anybody remember his "difficult" second album with the 40
minute "epic" mother. What a self indulgent piece of crap.

60 minutes wasn't it? You should have persevered; the last
20 mins were heavenly.

exactly...Rob Playford was the main man behind Timeless
(plus the rest of the metalheadz cru on some tracks...people
like Dillinja & Lemon D...)...

Goldie was what I guess you might call an "excutive
producer"...D&B needed a public face and Goldie fitted the
role perfectly...

hehe...I did actually like Mother on Staturn
Returnz..depsite it having that terrible 5 minute opening
without fuck all happening...big mistake...

but yeah, Timeless/Inner City Life/Angel/Terminator etc were
very cool...but I don't feel the right people got adequate
props for the tracks...

I didn't know Dillinja and Lemon D were involved, though I'm
not surprised. I guess, as you said, he was a 'face' for the
scene.

Rob Playford left him to it didn't he?

The fact that he does fuck all these days but dick about on
TV and prop up the bar at Met Bar speaks volumes.

yep..think he got fucked off with G hogging all the
limelight...SR would've been a lot better album if RP had
been more involved, you only need to hear his stuff on
Moving Shadow to appreciate what he bought to the show...

Did you ever get the Black limited edition of Timeless?..The
2 CD version...well worth it...check the credits on either
version & the names are pretty constant tho...

Shoulda stuck to painting, I reckon...had some real talent
there; being the pop face of jungle was a mistake...for him
& the music...

Goldie had some mad tracks back in the early days as Rufige
Cru, Terminator probably being the best. Timeless was good
and I do think Playford had a lot to do with that, but
Optical produced most of Saturns Return and while the first
disc was mostly crap the second one had some decent tracks
on it.

Ring of Saturn was much better and had some very good tracks
on it.

yeah, but even those early tracks weren't just Gs work...
Mark & Dego (as in 4 Hero) were big helpers...

Agree on the Ring of Saturn, far better than SR...think that
was an attempt to create something usable outta the mess of
SR...

Yeah, I have the black double. Didn't know it was ltd ed.
I'll check the credits.

Ring of Saturn was much, much better.

What always baffles me is his relationship with Bjork. Kind
of a contrast eh?
