I remember a week or so ago someone saying how stuff they
make in ejay shames their stuff where they made
everything... I was reminded of this at the weekend when I
made an ejay track (hadn't used it for nearly a year) in
about an hour that sounded better than lots of tracks I'd
spent days on :(

I've decided I'm going to nick the samples and use them in
Acid & Live along with my own stuff :)

Ah they're royalty free anyway and I legally own a copy.
They can't complain :P

Still, I'm getting better at making several second loops
using fruityloops for use in Acid & Live, so hopefully I'll
be able to relegate eJay to the cupboard for good soon :) I
really hate using samples apart from vocals or sound
effects. Everything else seems like stealing.

I started off using re-birth when that first came out, then
I used acid for a year or so. Then I had a break from music
making for 2 years, before winning a box of 12 ejay CDs in a
competition got me back into making music. Since getting
floops I haven't gone back to ejay, but having it installed
at my parents' house is good as I can make tracks there too
(floops won't run properly on that machine...), albeit ejay
ones.

I made my best track ever not long ago via eJay. But it
isn't so much stealing because I alter everything (add FX,
use samples, cut up drumloops), so it's all good.

Id recommand REASON 2 ! It has tons of nice samples, and you
can at least say, you did the drum programming yourself

Yes, I add in my own loops etc, but just the fact that I'm
using other peoples synth loops etc. makes me feel like a
fraud :)

I think its strength is that it makes you focus on something
that sounds good rather than is just technically good
or has a complex structure. I think Acid is a good "halfway
house" between creativity and simplicity. It'll be
interesting to try out the video features of acid 4. I'll be
able to link a soundtrack to bryce/poser animations etc..

Yes, there's a good 8 track freeware version. Good stuff.
