cool...but i really like the SNES zelda and i'm curious how
the new Zelda on the Gamecube will look and play. The use
some sort of new technic called cell-shading (correct me if
i'm wrong) so i'm quite excited!!

That is the best game ever!
No question about it.

Well... ofcourse now it isn't anymore. I'm sure if i still
had it i wouldn't even have the patience anymore to play it,
because it's very outdated.

But back in the days when i was still a little kid... and
this was the 2nd game i ever bought (got mario bros for free
with the NES ofcourse, but after finishing that, i bought
zelda)... that gaming-experience will never be beaten. It
was a perfect game and i will never forget the experience
:-)

*hums the dungeon-music*

And you're right about the cell-shading retouw! It is the
best-looking game i've ever seen :-o (altough many will
disagree)

is?

extremely long and fun

The artist lays several colors over the polygons of whatever
figure he's texturing and leaves it at that. Nothing
special.. The shadows are usually rendered in realtime. It
uses a lot less processing power and has a unique 'cartoon'
aesthetic... If you look at screenshots of Link there
aren't any details in his skin or clothing(wrinkles,
blemishes, stains, etc.) Jet Set Radio for the Xbox is
probably the most popular game to utilize the cel shading
technique.. The upcoming XIII for both PC and console
systems also uses it. This explaination is a bit crude;
search around a bit I'm sure you can find a better one.

Cabbog is right, look at some screenshots for instance here to
see what it's going to look like.

It's pretty much an interactive cartoon :-)
In alot of cell-shaded games the effect is just an "extra"
touch to otherwise ordinary graphics. But it looks like
nintendo actually designed the game to act like a cartoon. I
think the animations are incredible! And for instance the
expression on Link's face constantly changes throughout the
game.

If you're interested you should check out some movieclips to
get an even better idea of how great this game is going to
be...

lots of movieclips

xmas?
i need it i need it!

for xmas?

HAHA! You wish! :-p
(well me too actually)

In America they say it will be released "in the first half
of 2003". (it'll probably be delayed though, knowing
nintendo)... so in europe it's usually a few months later...

maybe xmas 2003? ;-)

I need it too though... do you reckon i should sell my
nintendo64 in order to buy a gamecube?

It is tempting...

but to this day i still regret ever selling my snes :-/

i feel so stupid that i sold my megadrive... now i sometimes
could kill to play the old sonic episodes and splatter house
and rocket adventures, and ..............
man juste keep it and wait for the gamecube!
;)

sigh...
yes, i know you are speaking wise words glass_eater
(as always, ofcourse ;-))

I will regret it if i would decide to sell it. In a couple
of months i'd probably kill to play mario64 on more time, or
f-zero x... or to replay paper-mario again :-D

But still... the mario sunshine looks soooo good (and it's
already available!)... metroid is coming up, the new
zelda... i want them all so much :-)

But i'll wait... one day i will have both a nintendo64 + a
gamecube! Just need to save up a little money :-)

If they update the visuals a bit that'd be well tidy. I
haven't played Ocarina now for years and my g/f hasn't
played it at all. I could have bought it again for my N64,
but Majora's put me off =oD

I can't wait. But I can't be thinking about that right now.
More important things to attend to right now. Like hunting
down the fuckers that failed to get Metroid in today. I hate

i'm telling you Majora's in an excellent game! Every bit as
good, if not better, than Ocarina.

Come on buy it ;-) You'll enjoy replaying it for sure, and
doesn't your girlfriend deserve to experience it aswell?
:-p

It's VERY cheap also. You can get in holland for 9,95
EURO's!

*slaps George's bald head*

Majora's was a piece of SHITE! You shall be allowed no
serenity until you realise this!

All the consoles are going downhill. I might buy a PS2,
things are that bad

Will you stop doing that!

The problem is you've got no taste. How can you not
recognize the genius that is Majora's Mask, and yet you
enjoy a piece of SHITE like Fear&Loathing in LV?! It just
doesn't make sense.

I still haven't got a GameCube, so i can't really judge if
it's going downhill... i hope not! Since i'm buying one soon
i hope! All the nintendo-games look excellent so far and
well... it's nintendo!

Buying a PS2 is like selling your soul to satan!

1. I agree on Jaworski, Majora's Mask sucks. It's lame to go
back in time over and over again...

2. the Gamecube is great! i have one and i love it. I'm
waiting for Zelda and Metroid Prime, I'm SO excited!!! Only
problem is, you have to wait to buy the really cool games
for the gamecube, there all still in the make.

btw. Mario Sunshine is a bit dissapointing...

1. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!! How can you say that? Has jarworski
cast some sort of evil spell on you? I loved it to go
back in time over and over again :-D Every 3 hours you get
this dramatic "end of the world" atmosphere, with the
townsfolks fleeding away, the moon coming closer and
closer... it's so sad! (and the music, my god... the music!
It captures the atmosphere perfectly!).

And then you play the song of time, and you're back in day
one... birds are whistling, the music is cheerful again...
and you get a whole new chance to save the world :-D

Also it made the gameplay much deeper. You could actually
get to know these people, because they go through the same
routine every time. Always on the first day at 14:00 the
postman comes to deliver his letter to anju... etc etc...
it's just amazing!
If you liked the movie Groundhog Day, you should love
Majora's! it's just like that!

2. :-) Good! That's good news indeed (altough i wasn't
really doubting it, hehe). But what games have you been
enjoying so much then if you thought mario was
dissapointing?

offline RetuoW from behind you (Netherlands, The) on 2002-11-18 13:03 [#00446691]

1. hahahah you have a point there, but i HATE groundhog day,
i allways get mad when i hear that radio saying: 'GROUNDHOG
DAY'. I think it is one of Bill Murray's worst movies :p.
But besides that, there's just something i don't like about
Majora. I think Ocarina was just better, maybe because the
going back in time thing was still original... i don't
know...

2. i have Super Smash Brothers, It's great!!! All that
fighting with my Favorite Nintendo characters hehe :)!!! I
also have Super Monkey Ball, and that one is
just.......wierd, but still cool!
I played some games at Media Markt (in Rotterdam) and i
think Tony Hawk 3 ( For is out with xmas!!! gonna buy that
one) is cool aswell as Sonic and Burnout.

1. hm... well atleast it makes sense that you also dislike
Groundhog Day ;-) However YOU ARE WRONG! :-p It's a great
movie and one one of Bill Murray's best. I can remember that
radio very clearly... every morning the first thing he heard
was: "put your little hand in mine" out of "i got you babe"
hehe... mmm... great movie! (just kidding about the YOU
ARE WRONG
bit ofcourse ;-) Just my opinion).

I did enjoy Ocarina slightly better...probably because i
played that one first. To be honest, they did recycle alot
of game-elements from that one in Majora's, that was a
little dissapointing. But the main storyline was much better
and more clever in Majora's i thought! I enjoyed it
immensly.

2. super smash bros never seemed very exciting to me...
probably most fun when you're playing it with 4 people eh?
Then i could see how it would work. StreetFighter II (snes)
was also boring on your own and fantastic with two players.

I've heard good things about monkeyball, except that it gets
too difficult and frustrating in the last levels... hm...

Mario Sunshine will still be the first game i buy though :-p
I just can't resist it.

First off, Groundhog Day is superb!

*SMACK*

Back to the GC. Smash Brothers was terrible, I had to take
it back after a day. Just like the first one, but even
worse!

Super Monkey Ball was fun. The punching mini game was HELLA
good! Can't remember if I finished the one player game. That
was rock hard towards the end =oP 2nd one also looks good.

Tony Hawk 3 I took back too, it was just an iffy update. 4
apparently is a bit different with the tasks and shit but I
saw an ad for it and it looks identical!

I think Zelda will be my next and maybe last purchase... I
need a PS2 for GTA3 games, ISS, Gran Turismo...

Maybe it is you who should attend at a rage-aholics

However i will admit you've got at least some taste
for liking groundhog day ;-)

Jarworski and surrounded:

*SMACK*

THAT was for liking Groundhog Day! :) But what can i do eh?!
Taste differences

I agree that on some point SSBM is boring, but i'm allways
enjoying the 4-player fights. ALLWAYS!

I Finished Super monkey Ball, it was f*cking hard! But it
was fun. And hell yeah the punch game is cool!

Tony Hawk 4 will be great, same shit still, but dunno, i
love skateboarding so i'll probably buy it.

And the games i further am definitly going to buy are
Metroid Prime and Zelda!

You need a few friends over to properly enjoy Super Smash
Brothers Melee -- it really doesn't offer much as far as the
single player experience goes. I've already prepaid for
Metroid Prime; just need to report to Lieutenant Worf on the
bridge tomorrow to pick it up.

tony hawk 4 sucks, WORSE graphics than 3(how is this
possible?) anyways its just boring, slightly different only
in the fact of getting the goals but no different aside from
that.

anyways Zelda Majora Mask kicks ass just as much as OoT and
I agree with pretty much everything georgie boy said(do you
still have tropic of cancer, or did bookman catch you?):)

and new systems dont suck, gamecube is the best (i think)
and its way better than the 64-psx days which were pretty
crappy.

I've never played them!

Zelda for the Cube is out in Japan in a bit, and I bet it

And I've never played Majora's Mask, it pains me to say...
I've been trying to for years, but it came out at the wrong

ssbm is great however i dont see how you could say its too
similar to one because its pretty much not close too it,
first of all its waaaay faster and the controls and fighting
styles have changed pretty drastically. and also the event
stuff (especially the later few) are hard as hell, one day i
will have every trophy and heave beaten all the events.
