Pictures in Europe

My school is offering all the graduating photo majors a
chance to travel abroad after we graduate. The only
condition is we propose a project and place we want to
photograph. I've never travelled outside the US, but have
always wanted to go to France. If you guys know any
interesting things going on in France or throughout Europe
that would make an interesting or unique photo project feel
free to suggest.

10th GOLDEN HERRING FESTIVAL - ETAPLES SUR MER

port where a strong smell of grilled or smoked herring
reigns, mingling with traditional music. We know what
simplicity and warmth mean here.. It's time for a
good-natured feast, in keeping with maritime tradition. On

entertainment.

CALAIS CHRISTMAS ILLUMINATIONS
period : 30/11/2002
DESCRIPTION : Calais' spectacular Christmas street lights
are among the best in France and probably better than any
display in the UK. New illuminations for 2002 will again be
designed by Italian specialists to reflect the town's
long-standing connections with the lace industry. Huge forty
feet displays lit by more than a million light bulbs will be
located on the three main roads into Calais, the Place
d'Armes and the Theatre. In addition, traditional Christmas
light displays will be sited across all the main shopping
streets.

I would say, do some research. it would be best if you
choose something you really want to do with your own
personal reasons..

what a great opportunity!

I recommend:
iceland for landscape photography
berlin for urban photography

it all depends on what you're interested in. there are so
many amazing places in europe that sometimes it's hard to
choose, but wherever you go i'm sure will be worth it!

london!

photograph all the homeless, endless queues of traffic, and
numerous drunken acts of violence. breath in that polluted
air, enjoy beautiful landscapes of litter and experience the
worst public transport system in the world! london - the
city that never sleeps! (because it's too scared too)

The photography I do now is not really something I can use
if I travel abroad. I am trying to learn more about French
culture and have learned some of the language. We need to
have a reason why we NEED to go to France to take the
pictures... why not just stay in the US?

Sure, they know the real reason is just to go to France, but
every graduating photographer proposes a place and why they
should be picked to photograph there, and who ever has the
best reason gets to go.

I'm not sure if anyone on this board is actually from
France. There is some subculture in Eastern France that has
been dwindling in some years. Before anything I first have to
get over the fear of flying.

Victor Hugo... if you've heard anything about him... is a
cool French guy... he has a museum, or something & there are
FUCK loads of old museums about Nazism & such around the
town, Besancon... GO THERE... it's beautiful countryside as
well!
