ok boys and girls......ahahha i always wanted to say that i USED the excuse to take my niece to this movie to go see it myself........KIDDING!!
what can i say i was entralled!! it was great fun, and very entertaining feel good kinda movie. i definately want the DVD when it comes out and i think i'll drag my BF to go see this flick at some point.
i'm not sure if it's the magical aspect, fancifal story, or interesting characters FULL O SECRETS, but it was really good.
only sad aspect was watching the magnificent RICHARD HARRIS in his last acting roll, and wishing he had 100 more years in his pocket to entertain us. he will be sadly missed.
anyway......i recommend it as fun fun fun, nothing deep, but does everything in life have to be? i think not! =0)

I didnt mind the first one but hated the one thing that every body raved about the Quiditch tournament thingy..to me it was like the Pod Race in the Phantom Menace...a fail safe...a sure fire crowd pleasing bit of sporting bruhaha..all the plot elements, story and characters are put on hold...while the Phantom Menace being a dog of a movie needed this gimmick...Harry Potter had enough going for it to do without that extended sequence of Sporting Tosh..

hey flea.....
yea that Quiditch doesn't do anything for me either. the match seems shorter in this film, and it had a few interesting elements. the only thing i can figure is that it must feature HEAVILY in the book thats why it's talked about a lot.
i have not read the potter books, although i'm more inclined to just to find out some background details on some of the characters!
you should go you'll enjoy it!

it was strange for me, because the first thing i noticed was the environment, i was surrounded by young kids! so basically, my goal was to get kicked out or make an ass out of myself so that this chick wouldn't make me go to anymore movies with her. hehe =) so in that aspect, i was entertained

i took my niece, who's read every book. i like doing stuff with her, but the rest of the kiddos were pretty quiet....thankfully.
and people in the theatre clapped a few times....it was really cute....and some of my favourite british actors were in it....richard harris.....robby coltrane...plus others.
ehhehe....did you get kicked out....or manage to finish the movie?

Personally I can't see what the big deal is with Richard Harris. I wouldn't say he was a particularly good actor at all. As for harry potter, sure it's encouraging kids to read but christ it's appalling stuff.

Quiditch was a big thing in the first book, so I can see why they made it big in the first film.
you see, the first film was an almost literal translation of the first book - which made it okay, but not very good. film in its essential form is just a completely different form than literature, with different "rules" and forms.
still, it was an okay film.
I will see the 2nd one when it comes out. although the one I'm REALLY looking forward to is LOTR 2!!!

It's a party for Nearly Headless Nick, celebrating the day he died =oD
He's really miffed throughout the book cause he can't joing the headless hunt because he's not totaly headless
hehehe
I recomend the books, they're soooo cool and you get to learn alot more about harry's background.
The 3rd film should be a corker too
*nuff said ;op*
