""We're not trying to say 'smoke' or 'don't smoke' cannabis," BLF Chief Executive Dame Helena Shovelton told BBC Radio. "We're saying that if you do, understand the risks involved in doing so.
"Don't have the same situation we had with tobacco, which was years of denial about the problems," she said."
sounds sensible.

i'm not really suprised. if you smoke three joints a day, or any amount of cannabis daily, your balance of consumption is a little off, imo. looks like i'm going to have to get that vaporizer i been meaning to pick up, as well as start baking more often.

basically, (imo) that statement is saying that it being stronger is bullshit. or that there's no way to prove it (as all the weed in the 60s and such is most likely gone)

its sad that we can't even be sure if a study is trustworthy. still, when i smoke there is no doubt in my mind that it's unhealthy, even if the results of this study turn out to be an exageration.

i think there is also the inhalation method to be considered that these studies never speak of. if you only inhale partially the amount of tar that gets stuck in the smallest branches of your lung (forget what they are called) is far less and the risks of smoking are greatly decreased. of course you have to smoke slightly more to get as high, but if you're like me and don't smoke too often anyhow, it doesn't take much. i don't think it takes a study to tell you that smoking is unhealthy, everyone who really wants to stay healthy can listen to their body.

well.. they only recently conclusively have proven that cigarettes cause cancer.. I mean, shown the exact correlation between the act of smoking and the act of developing cancer.
just because it seems obvious, doens't mean you don't have to prove it scientifically.

i dunno, i am trying to detox myself a bit now, like jand i smoke heavily (maybe 10-15 spliffs a day, usually raw) and have smoke for 15 years.
i've just completed my latest crop and i do step up my smoking when my crops ready, maybe 50-80 grammes a week, i still smoke about 30-40 a week when i'm buying from coffee shops, still alot of money, one of the main reasons i grow my own.
but i'd say my memory is pretty fucked, not long term memory, just the short things, say 30 seconds from when i say i've got to do something it's gone, forgotten.
for alot of money to be spent on research that i'd say all smokers know anyway is just rediculous.
if you inhale ANY form of smoke it WILL do damage to your interior, FACT!!

All this god damn money spent of seeing how bad the drug is..... how about they start studying on how to make a new line of cannabis that has little tar in it..... how about they do something that lessens the effects instead of bitching about how bad it is..... christ... we all know its bad... it doesnt take a scientist to figuere that one out. Damn. Put all that money to use and invent some cannibus that has less tar in it or a cleaner cannibus.... This money could be going to help the aids epidemic in africa... or go toward the starving people of ethopia.... but nooooooooooooooo. they have to spent all this money on something a 5 year old could have told me....

Exactly! Since there is a way to reduce the amount of tar in cigarettes without removing the nicotene they must be able to do the same thing with cannabis, right?

What about the link to schizophrenia? I have a mate who has smoked loads for the last 6 years and he's had some major problems. He claimed he saw a UFO recently and once pulled his car over coz he thought there was a police car behind him, only to discover there wasn't.

got a mate who proper lost it on canabis, but doctors said it was a catalyst, meaning the problems where allready there, just that the drug accelarated the problems, its well known canabis does have bad effects on people who are not very stable in the mind.
he stayed awake for 7 days, only smoking weed. it got very, very scary. Luckily he's ok now but still takes medication, he also smokes the odd joint without the effects it earlier caused.

yeah, I guess that's pretty high (excuse the pun...)... no exageration either - in fact, most days that's pretty low....
But I haven't noticed any adverse side-effects...mentally or otherwise...in many ways, it's made me a better person...likewise with E - that transformed so many of the people I know into actually nice people (even the violent bullyboy types...)...
Sleeping Pills on the other hand - my other major addiction - is a totally memory killer...
But all these are just toys compared to harder drugs....those have been my real problem in life altho thankfully that's a period of my life thats over....
BTW I wonder how much more dangerous and cancer-causing is the average motorcar....check the smoke coming out of those and you'll see what I mean.....I know fuel is lot more lead free nowadays but that is very recent....
And need I mention Alcohol....

Cannebis or any psychoactive material can lead to problems for those suspectable to mental health problems...
I read a recent report from a charity that deal with young people & mental health and they are very worried that this angle isn't being addressed in the current debate....

one of the most common factors is "episodes" is a severe lack of sleep. of course, this is likely to be an effect of an effect etc.
schizophrenia is pretty complex (and varies in degree) - its not like a broken leg, although people suffering from schizophrenia occasionally break legs.

It's senseless denying that it causes health problems. I heard of some guy who only had like 2-3 joins per weekend to chill and ended up which throat cancer. Ok the same probably would have happened with normal cigarettes or he may have contracted it somewhere else in the long run but it's still worth thinking about...

Yeah it's like this scientific program I watched a while back which stated that frying food was the worst way to cook not only because it's fatty but it also produces this chemical/enzime/thingydooda which is carcogenic. There ya go, fry food to much and you'll get cancer!!! I think people just need to chill and live a little rather than worrying about all these little factors.
