Favorite Beatles record?

So, out of curiosity--what's everyone's favorite Beatles
record? Right now, I'm into the White Album more than
anything else. Thoughts?

revolver

Usually my favorite.
Do you have (or have heard) the anthology two? It has great
revolver outtakes!

Ewww, The Beatles...

...

...

The White Album is my favorite work of art ever by homo
sapiens, no other can do a double album with such wacky
ambition and not sound silly like they're trying too hard.

any songs rejected from revolver or just alternate versions
of revolver songs?

offline Spookyluke from United States on 2002-11-11 21:17 [#00437944]

I'm hooked on it--it's got everything! Passionate, personal
songs. Chaotic, original, arrangements. Fun, singable
tunes that everyone can get into. Romantic bits; depressing
rock tracks! Pure genius!

Really good alternate versions. Tomorrow Never KNows is
almost entirely different.
I got mine used this weekend for half price. I want all the
anthologies at some pont.

I have tons of bootlegs, including two called, appropriately
enough ''Alternate Revolver 1 and 2. '' :-) There's no songs
from that '66 era that didn't make it(other than studio
jams), but hours and hours worth of practice tapes and shit,
alternate mixes, takes, etc. I've many many gigs worth of
shit like that on my 'puter. People are always IMing me on
Soulseek BEGGING ME to let them jump the queue and swipe my
rare Beatles. :-)

I like a lot of them, so id have to say
Anthology II. It doesnt have some of the essential revolver
tracks though.

Beatles question for the experts:

I want to get "Hey Jude" on CD. What's the CD that has it
but also has the least duplication with other albums
(because I'll probably get all of the regular albums some
day.)

(I know it's a single)

i also like a hard days night & the white album very much

Hey Jude the SONG? There's also a US album called ''Hey
Jude''.

Get Past Masters Volume 2. A collection of singles/B sides,
tracks not on their albums. I guess this is what you mean by
''no duplication''?

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I just didn't
want to get a collection like "1" where I already have most
of the other songs.

The problem with the blue album is that I already have Sgt
Peppers, Abbey Road and the White Album, so that's a lot of
dupes.

If you're going to get all of their studio albums, there's
no sense getting the Red or Blue Albums. Or ''One'', for
that matter... there's tracks exclusive to PM2 only.

I don't even own the Red!

red & blue have loads of singles which aren't on the albums,
but there is a lot of duplication at the same time

But that's what PM1 and 2 are for, and they have songs that
aren't on Red and Blue.

Bah, greatest hit albums weren't meant for the Beatles
anyway!

Abbey Road is a monster, along with Revolver.

but you can't go wrong with the Anthologies, 2 + 3 are the
best i think, gives you a real insight into how the band
worked.

heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, Bongo

quite radically different to the album version.

see, now i always hear revolver come up as peoples
favorite.... i have the album, and while it is good, i dont
quite understand the fever over it. and ive heard the whole
"it was at a time when they were transitioning, blah blah"
argument. im just saying, white album... more variety than
any other beatles record. more experimentation than anyother
beatles record. more ROCKIN OUT than any other beatles
record (re: ussr, pauls vocals on helter skelter). and on
top of that, its just a MUCH heavier and more serious record
than its predecessors. i would give #1 to abbey road, but
white album is longer. and since i feel content-wise the
quality is equal, this album gets it. i think let it be is
sub-par. i think rubber soul is average (for them). i would
say magical mystery tour and sgt pepper are directly under
abbey road. klatu barata nikto!

Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band.

I just listened to it over and over again when I was little.
My brother made me a cassette copy and I played it
repeatedly on a beaten up old tape player.

Don't have any, but I like Hey Jude *knows jack about the
Beatles*. Might get into them when I have enough money to
afford such things.

I am not sure how you throw Revolver's "transitioning" off
as "blah blah".

I own almost all of them, and my favorite is Revolver.

As for the white albumn. It has some great tracks but
stragglers aswell. I think production on the white albumn is
sub-par to other efforts aswell.

A Hard Day's Night should get an honorable mention for best
pre-Rubber Soul Beatles. Perfect pop, 'tis.
