I don't care what anyone says, I loved this movie. It's
about a normal man looking oppression in the eyes and
overcoming impossible odds.
...Real enough for me.

I was going to post a link about this tonight and ask if
anyone seriously was going to pay money to see Eminem act as
badly as he makes music.

Guess that answers my question.

the title track isn't the single, that's "lose yourself."
but you might have the soundtrack and be referring to the
title track.... *wank wank* sorry

Make sure to report back and share your opinion tits; I
value yours more than anyone else's on this board.

i give it about an 8 out of 10. i wanted to love it but it
had some failings. i still thought it was great and people
should see it, even if they're not "eminem fans."

here's what i DIDN'T like about it:
1. the movie feels incomplete to me. the ending could have
been more drawn out. i still have some unanswered questions
about the characters, especially alex (brittany murphy). and
as for "8 mile part 2," it's highly unlikely there will be a
sequel (even if there were, my questions wouldn't be
answered cos they're more like underdevelopment in the
plot).
2. kim bassinger should have had more lines.
3. the character cheddar was perhaps TOO cheesy.
4. although the lyrical battle scenes are pretty accurate, i
must say that eminem's character couldn't rhyme nearly as
well as eminem cerca 1995-8. for evidence of this just
listen to any of his many freestyle sessions, especially the
12 minute mp3 between him, canibus, and royce. i don't know
if this is eminem's fault for losing sight of what once made
him such an amazing underground rapper or if he
intentionally did this to show that rabbit is still
learning.
5. eminem's eyes were really buggy. maybe i just never
noticed before but in the screen they're kinda bulging.

here's what i DID like about it:
1. back to the battles, whether or not rabbit is as good as
eminem was back in the day, the lyrics and performances were
all really good (all the battlers). if i get the dvd i'm
gonna mp3 the battle scenes cos i love freestyles and it was
really cool to hear eminem rip shot over the beat to mobb
deep's "shook ones."
2. the beatdown and gang intimidation scenes were pretty
realistic as well.
3. the whole movie (not just the battle rhymes) was pretty
funny.
4. it was also well acted by all parts. (however, it's hard
to really say "eminem was amazing" because this role isn't
too far from his past and present reality. but in that
regard i'm sure it was much better than mariah carey in
glitter. i'll hold off on my praise for eminem's ac

i'll hold off on my praise for eminem's acting till his next
movie, but i think he did a great job in this role.)
5. it was amusing to see eminem and bjork share a
commonality. both are musicians who took breakthrough roles
in music-based movies in the last couple years, and in these
films they BOTH work in steel factories when they really
want to be singing/rapping (bjork of course being the
RAPPER).
6. some nice instrumental and alternate mixes of "lose
yourself" scoring in the film.
7. good performance from mekhi pfifer; nice to see him
performing something besides a "pretty boy" role.
8. it was fun to see kim bassinger's first appearence in the
film, buck naked and riding "D".
9. good hip-hop nostalgia for me (the song selections, and
posters and stickers everywhere).
10. overall one of the best hip-hop oriented films to date.
11. it shows that eminem has great potential and could
perhaps get past his own present bullshit posturing and do
something respectable and interesting before he retires at
age 30 (which he says he will in one of his recent songs).

saw the film today....and i have to say it was very
entertaining, eye opening, and a showcase for some not
'huge' stars that maybe will get noticed.
ie..mekhi pfifer

i think the movie tried to deal with too many issues and
never really explained or fully explored them, it tried to
do too much that way.

i also think that the editor cut a lot of stuff out that
will more than likely be explained on the DVD, especially
some scenes with his mother? scenes with his love
interest....they were just left hanging out ....IMO

overall i recommend this film.....i enjoyed the battle rap
and the soundtrack of the movie....TWO THUMBS UP!! =0)

Glad you liked it Tits. There were some minor hokey parts
but as a whole, I thought the movie was so good that they
slipped by my cheese radar virtually undetected. I think
the final battle would have been worth the price of
admission alone.. I left with shivers in my spine.

the daughter was a good actress but rabbit's interactions w/
her were pretty hokey. *rabbit kicks the shit out of someone
then says "hi baby! daddy's here and he loves you!"*

yea the battle put me in the mood to watch or at least
listen to some other battles... check out that
eminem/canibus/royce one if you can find it, it's seriously
good

if i were on, yes -- however, to conserve RAM for the DVD
i'm about to watch, it's not on. just add "eminem canibus
freestyle" to your wishlist.
