OK. My new phone can use a MIDI file for a ringtone. Had a
search and found a couple of MIDI on the .nu part of the
site. Man do they sound good. Anyway anyone know where I can
get somemore AFX midi? I really want to use this to its
fullest potential.

ringtone?? Ive got a T68, and I can't I don't think.

Nokia 7650. Got it yesterday and it's fucking great. The
sound is spot on. Won't want to answer the phonelstenig to
it. I'm going to try and search the board for some.

you probably only want a small part of em tho...if they are
full MIDI files they probably have all the chords as well as
the melody...you might wanna open em up in a MIDI sequencer
and get rid of everything except the main
theme/melody...just choose 8 bars or so...

most phones aren;t up to playing full MIDI files, they just
use MIDI as a convienient file format...

I suppose it depends on the polyphony of the phone. If it is
8note polphony then it is good enough for basic stuff. But
imho ring melodies arent that important anyway, as long as
its unique....I've seen some people with melodies so complex
they havent really realised "theyre ringing" because it
blends into our daily life of beeps and badly digitised
sounds which bombard us in shops/etc.
Oh and...
Is the phone picky about midi format 1 or 0?? because I know
my sampler is! :)

Well it's played every MIDI file I've chucked at it so far.
I will be editing them down though purely for size reasons.

sounds like you've got a decent one...all the early ones
were a bit fussy about size/complexity...

hehe..8 note polyphonic...haven't heard that term in a
while...
