well, the new sampler is fucking great, the new synth is fucking great, and there is now sync options for all the lfos/rates, which is very useful.

It's cool for the grnular thing. It's a replicator of aphex and autechre though, there's nothing new.

With the malestrom and its graintable synthesis you can get practically anysound out of it. The sampler is EXCELLENT! And if you use reason II creativly you can make some neat sounds and not "replicate of aphex
and autechre".

What actually does ableton Live do? I've read descriptions, but it's not very clear. Is it a sequencing/fx package?

its an audio sequencer, similar to acid. But the cool thing about it is the ability to trigger different sections of your track by midi or even the computer keyboard.
www.ableton.com has a demo.
plus it works with rewire and vst effects. Actual artists are involved in the design rather than just programmers, so it works beautifully

Ah, thanks, I used to use Acid a lot, it was the first package I really got into.
So you can say, assign a loop to a key then press that key to trigger it? Sounds cool.
I like floops, but I dislike the limitations of using it as a "live" instrument...
I'll check out the demo tonight.

CERI JC!!! you see it, floops sucks for live things, it's so sad, i don't see why the programmers give us a midi note trigger function... it would be nicest thing ever ...

I know, all you can do is knob twiddle effects or change the song layout (with a mouse, s'yeah, right!) whilst it's playing. Which seems a bit of a cheat- it's more akin to being behind a mixing desk than actually "playing" live :)

Dragons should not be allowed to spend endless nights on a BBC Micro trying to make it beep. I may have rattled my reptilian mind. :/
It's Friday, I'm trying to cap the fact I'm hyper.

I wish! I'd love to do that... I'm good with my paws but not with programming. No I was trying to do something else but messing around with it for a long time makes me see white text when I close my eyes.
I'd rather get a new Amiga to connect to here but currently I'm at work on a slow day.

Hmm, I was only a hatchling when you could do that. I do recall the chat program in Teletext with the four digit codes tho.
I remember listening to the radio and hearing beepmaps or noise. I used to listen to that more then the music stations.

I don't remember that. I wish I could experience all that over again. I miss them a lot.
My friend made a program called Strobe for the BBC Micro, You could close out all the light in your room and run this program to act like a strobe light at a rave. We thought it kicked ass but others didn't see the beauty of it.
