damn, i dont even listen to this record anymore, and dont
want to either. is there something wrong with me or with
the album? it's pretty rare that i get bored with an album i
buy this quick...

..guess you didn't know Squarepusher after all, eh? :)

I didn't care much for it either - I only listen to the
title track, and the LWTUA cover.

i love it. Small doses though. I did not like the 10min
track at first but love it now.......

F-train is amazing after a Streets song!
track 1

and i fucking LOVE alive in Japan. Cycling around Dublin in
the crisp evening of winter to that live show is
unbelievable!

yes...
*cough*
i must admit i grew tired of it rather quickly too :-/

Please ignore my previous posts on the ep! All it took was a
good hard listen to Go Plastic to make me realise the disc
was not so good after all.

Title track is still an unbelievable classic though! Almost
worth the askingprice alone.

I still listen to it a lot, and I like the live set too,
even though the quality is bad....

I liked every song but the cover of joy division......

Is the title track as good as his recent untitled vinyl only
release? 'cause that track really kicked some booty.

the title track is the untitled vinyl release :-p

But i don't got that one, it was good to finally be able to
buy the track on cd!

(so the song on the untitled vinyl-release is the same song
as the title track of the new ep)

(thought that point was unclear from my last post :-) But
they are one and the same)

O fuck o fuck o fuck I have to get that motherfucking disk!
I was standing like five feet away from it yesterday SHIT!

I feel towards that track like Blatant feels for his crush.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

i gather you didn't purchase the untitled vinyl eiher? :-p

Yes the song is awesome... one of my favorite pieces of
music of all time! Even though the rest of the ep is
not-so-good, i still listen to the title track on a daily
basis.

It's so... i dunno... funky, exciting, crazy, cool,
beautiful... just awesome! :-p If chris cunningham would
make a cool video for it, this could be his own Windowlicker
if you ask me.

Yup, I just have the MP3, which is nice and clear but
missing some oompa loompa to my ears.

There's just so much going on in that track, as much as some
of the stuff on Go Plastic but somehow more aesthetically
pleasing without being too poppy.

It's a mack daddy death bong track. A CC video would be
sweet icing.

this is better than all 3 albums he put out in 1999, and his
ep's before 1996 (in my opinion).. although those ep's, they
sound completely different and i probably shouldn't even
compare them.

anyway, a little over 1/2 of DYKS? is great, the rest is
mediocre

it is up to the standard of quality you come to expect from
SQP. i love it, i didn't expect anything less, LWTUA was a
supprise but a nice one at that

i get shit on for bringing up a genre no one here is
familiar with, but i still think "mutilation colony" is a
great experiment in musique concrete.

also.. f-train is a nice streets meets autechre experiment

'mutilation colony' is the track i really can not stand...
looks like musique concrète isnt for me.

i think you just have to be in the mood for it.. it's
basically a stew of pretty sounds

tits... thats what i been saying bout f'train... and the
live stuff gest better and better all the time... you star
to really anticipate the time delays, it makes my stomach
butterfly! How bout the end of "my fucking sound" where he
stretches the "daddy" vocal sooo much you feel like a
wormhole has opened up behind you

Hmm, I for one think "Mutilaion colony" is a pretty lame
stab at musique-concrete. He doesn't know what to do with
all those sounds once he decides to make some kind of
narrative with them...

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2002-11-08 08:34 [#00433096]

ah but i think he does...... maybe cos i don´t have much
experience with musique concrete, i have no reference frame
so i have the song on its own merits.... and it does it for
me.

More than likely though, i am compltely hooked on
Squarepusher so he can do no wrong. This always seems
pathetic to me when others fall victim to this kind of
unfree behaviour.. i mean it smacks of lameness and
needyness, but, but... i just 100% completely enjoy
everything Squarepusher does.... (i´m not the same with
AFX). ... its psychologically interesting that i behave like
this and i have some theorie as to why, based on childhood
occurences..... but i feel very normal though!
ho-hum!

Uhh, could be.. I find it just too linear and predictable
and boring, to be honest...
