*hehe* ...found this funny conversation while looking for
GTA3 Specs:

Person A: What do you think the minimum requirement
to play Game X?

Person B: You'll need DirectX 8.1, Pentium-III
1GHz, Geforce 3 or Radeon 8500, A3d, EAX, or DirectX 8 sound
card, 384MB of RAM if you have Windows XP or 256MB if you
have Windows ME, and 1GB of space.

Person A: But, you're lying! Game X can run on my
Pentium-II 400, DirectX 7.0, Geforce 2 MX400 with 32MB, AC97
onboard sound, Windows 98, and 128MB of RAM. Look, I can
play this game at 50 frames per second! Let me show you!

Person B looks at Person A's computer running Game
X

Person B: You call that playable? What the heck
is wrong with the environments, the creatures, the skies,
the objects, and the terrains? I can't tell any difference
among any of these stuff. And, the sound... wait, someone is
hitting you from the sides, no.. from behind... You'll need
to increase some of the quality settings! I'll help you to
change...

Person A: Shut up! What the hell are you babbling
about? And, don't touch my computer! This game is very
playable on my machine; it's very fast, but I don't play
well in this game. Just go away!

I know, there's minimum & reccomended specs, I wish they'd
do "playable" specs too.

That said, with a lot of clever memory management &
detail altering, I got GTA 1 running playably on a 8MB
486-66 :)

I tend to just use my PC for emulation gaming now (as well
as music etc.) although I do have GTA3 on it- that's the
only really "modern" game though. I have consoles that I
prefer to use to play other types of game on.

I had to build a new PC for my boss yesterday...:(...

Pentium 4, 1 gig of RAM, stupidly fast...totally wasted on
him....(altho not as waste as the huge cabinet sized Unix
box we have...that's a total monster....massively expensive
& soooo over-specced, which makes me kinda mad; that fucker
could support 1000 heavyweight users but how many have we
got?..less than fucking 10!!.....RANT MODE OFF>...:)

The strange thing about fast computers is that after 6
months they feel slow; you kinda get used to the speed,
however fast...weird how your expectations of something
changes....

equipment...

2 M Audio Delta 1010 PCI Digital Audio System cards,
w/rackmountable inputs & outs & then i've got old skool,

once there was a boy that was soooo exited over his 900MHz
computer. He went home and plugged the whole thing in.
Turned on the power and NOTHING HAPPENED!
Think it's the ATX that is too low-powered since it's from
an old computer.
Well...back to buying new parts *sigh*

I just hope that it isnt the MB

change! :)

Sorry, I haven't been around for a while, but I now have a
job! Anyway, My new computer should be here tomorrow. I
love this thing and I don't even have it yet. It's a 2.4
GHz with a 160 gig drive with and Audigy 2 and All-in-wonder
card in it. Completely custom built for $2500. I'm gonna be
broke for a while. But now I can't make my keyboard play
itself...
