first off the venue, Temple Bar Music Venue, is one of the
best in dublin for quantiy and quality of acts - rephlex,
warp etc. The place itself always has a nice crowd, not too
many and plenty of room to go nuts with a few chillout areas
too
Saturay was billed as DJ MArky - Brazillian Dn B "legend"
with local Boys Bassbin as support. Now those Bassbin dudes
are doin well for themselves with a seemingly massive
following in Dublin but they just MC way to much over
quality jungle tunes. I dont mind MCing as such but not
over every song and not by the same white dude with a poxy
Dublin accent for 2 hours!
Anyway, having said that this time their last hour was MC
free and fucking awesome with some amazing cut-up jungle
tracks distorted slighlty for a braindance edge we all
love... quality stuff....
After that Marky came on with his own MC... a big black
dude, dunno the name, with a decent voice . He got the crowd
going well and supported the tunes well. Now the Dn B they
were playing was not hard enough for my tastes.. specially
after the jungle before, but htye created a real nice
atmosphere and were just genuinely into the buzz of the
dublin crowd ("the blacks of europe")...
quality show - entertaining and satisfying.
Next stop.. rephlex at Bologna

I visited the Bassbin room at the Guiness Storehouse (Deaf
festival last week) and they were playing some good stuff.
Paradox live was mighty strange though..

nice one splodge.... ya see Paradinas there? amazing wasn't
he? i recently got one of his Mu compilations... great
range .. gabba, hiphop cuts, breaks, ambient.... nice
