You should have LP 5 and then move on to EP 7 and Confield.

so far i'm not so fond of lp5 as i was of chiastic slide and
confield...but ae takes always a lot of time to enter
through my brain

I never got into LP5 as a whole--some of it annoys me. I
think it's over-rated jsut because people like short songs.

I love chiastic slide.

the ae album that works best as a whole, imo.

You should get them all. I love all, except for their last
release "Gantz Graf".

chiastic slide is awesome, especially the track called
"Cichli"

Ö_ö

don't forget envane and cichliusuite. the peel sessions are
good too, but not as essential if you aren't out to get
every release.

i really enjoy lp5, but i too think it's overrated.

Yeah, LP5 is shit. Apart from that AMAZING first track (I
can NEVER remeber Ae track names...I always shove it in and
listen...)

I love ep7, Confield, and Tri Repetie though...

btw-I don't really think it's "shit"...I just don't like
most of it. My opinion.

I don't like AE but I got LP5 on vinyl from warp for free. I
also have another unkown AE vinyl.

You should prolly get LP5 eventually just so yr up on the Ae
scene and know what all the hubbub is about.. but I agree
with a few of the people on here: it's waaaay overrated. I
would consider it their weakest release next to Incunabula
(which I find pleasant but downright boring..). LP5 sounds
too much like it was thrown together. It has brilliant
moments, i.e. fold4,wrap5 , 777, rae, melve but it's
basically a bunch of ingeniously assembled sound effects.
They said themsleves that they've done alot better. Get
Envane and Confield.

It's so chunky... rusty machines cranking out the beats.
It's amazing, I like it more every day.

Nuane has my favorite beats EVER in a song. I love the way
it starts out, it's like some mutant hip hop.

Chiastic Slide is one of my favorites from Autechre.

Is it just me, or does Calbruc sound like its taken from a
Martial Arts film, the very begging of it, that constant
loop

yea Calbruc "YAH!" it sounds pretty funny. Gantz Graf is
next best to Confield. Chiastic Slide is good. to me the
first song sounds like something dj muggs of cypress hill
would do if he decided to do IDM. :D

I read somewhere that ae thought that Chiastic Slide was not
an adequate follow up to Tri Repetae.

Tri Repetae made made the machines

Chiastic Slide is them going out of control..

why do so many people think LP5 is overrated? Maybe some
people genuinely like it!!! I know I do!

my mind...

Nuane and Cichli are two of their best ever tracks. I still
think they were listening to Bronski Beat when they composed
Cichli. It's so Smalltown Boy.

Tewe could be part of the soundtrack to an excruciatingly
suspenseful movie.

I have to be in a particular mood to sit through Hub,
Calbruc and Recury. Right now I like them.

It's a bit like Parhelic Triangle, isn't it? They both sound
like loops going through a wringer over and over.

It's a little bit of fact and a lot of personal bias. I
guess it's just that it seemed to me to be everyone's
favorite and I didn't think it was that good.. especially in
comparison to Tri Rep and the others.

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-11-02 01:57 [#00424814]

get LP5 for sure. except those 2 interlude tracks, all the
tracks are extremely solid. it's my fave ae release, no
doubt. i like the way most tracks morph into something
different halfway, especially the way 'rae' gets
progressively slower and how 'under BOAC gets twice as
hectic.

Yeah, and that's another favorite of mine. Parhelic Triangle
sounds like you can touch it.
