This is the first BOC album I've bought, and iono, I always
dug ROYGBIV, but yeah, iono, it's too mellow?

not enough melody....hum, i don't know, maybe it's
repetative, the same sounds throughout the song, i can't put
my finger on it.

I am listening to it all the way through though, never can
do that with a rock CD, kinda nice

what are other thoughts on MHTRTC?

In time, you'll begin to see the intense, complex beauty of
each track.. you'll like 'An Eagle in Your Mind' as much as
'roygbiv', you'll hear the subtle melodics, you'll
understand why it's constructed the way it is. It's not
flawless, but it's very close.. keep trying! :)

BlatantEcho should be tied to the nearest tree and beaten
with tire irons and...

*ahem* I mean...

Give it time. It's an album that has a lot give and reward
with repeated listens...

:) BoC

I have given in quite a while, frankly I don't like it. Too
samey. I like the beatless stuff though: Bocuma, Olson, Open
the Light, good kind of cheesey. The one with the guy saying
'Orange!' does my head in.

mhtrtc is better then geogaddi in my opinion. Just keep on
listening and you'll find it to be just like a pleasant
dream or sumthing

gets better with repeated listens. this one is almost as
good as geogaddi now that i gave it some time.

Indeed. BoC gets better with repeated listens. You notice
subtleties that you never heard before, and how every sound
comes together and complements the others. Also try
Geogaddi.

growing on me, yes yes

btw: always thought ROYGBIV was the total of Bocuma and
Roygbiv, when they are in fact two different songs.....huh

i mean, I had heard ROYGBIV, but always with Bocuma played
before it, and I thought it was all one song.

I thought the fade out was funny, turns out it's two songs.

oh oh okay.. sorry, so you just weren't paying attention to
the track display, gotcha.. yes they do fade right into one
another actually.. sorry bout that :) btw glad you're
liking it better.

no, it wasn't that I wasn't paying attention, I had just
heard it all as one.

basically I had downloaded the mp3, for what I thought was
ROYGBIV, but it contained Bocuma also, they were one song,
but with the disc I see they are two
------------

anyway :) with that settled, I think what is throwing me
off, is that this is easily the most chill/laid back album
I'ver ever bought, or even heard. I'm use to loud loud
rock, or the crazy snare rushes of RDJ, this is just so
relaxed, and very intricate, but just way relaxed.

It's great to totally zone off too though, I am appreciating
it more and more.

oh I see .. haha man I'm sorry I made a mountain out of a
mole hill, as they say..

Glad yr liking the album gradually, it really is worth the
time. Maybe the fact that I and other have good
associations with it for some reason plays a part, who
knows. It IS fairly laid back as far as IDM goes.. but like
you said, there's alot going on, it's just not obvious :)
Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding.

I'm fond of Boards, but I just can't shake the feeling that
their songs on MHTRTC lack memorability. They're almost all
very forgetable. Aphex and Autechre have incredibly
memorable songs--each distinct from the other. MHTRTC stuff
generally seems to blend together into like six distinct
tunes. I don't know, call me crazy.

maybe Spooky, but I'm not finding that to be a bad thing.

The whole album I will remember, maybe not stand out tracks,
but I like that in a mellow, deep album.

Good stuff, still growing on me.

*np uviol, i prolly wasn't making any sense anyway ;)

ok, a few horus later from last post, been listening to
MHTRTC for about 2 days now, and well, it's starting to get
to me

It's so chill, you feel good listening to it, you feel like
part of the magic. Sometimes it chill, some tracks are just
weird, but still, it blends togther so well, it might as
well be one long song.

I'm totally in another world as I listen. Even the super
repetative parts of Rue The Whirl fit perfectly into the
album.

everyone was dead on, it still keeps getting better every
moment. I'm a BOC fan now, officially I guess :)
