alesis mmt8 sequencer, autechre uses them. I've looked
around and they are dirt cheap and seem quite useful..

akai s20 sampler. the dang thing uses floppy disks how cool
is that? and they are cheap as well.
anybody use either of these before? I'm wondering about
peoples experiences.

why can't a es-1 use a floppy disk. that would be freaking
awesome. I hate those dumb little disks everything uses
now.

yeah, the mmt8 seq altho simpe is great live way to
play....

Orbital used to use em all the time (think they had about 8
of em,....

Lets you remxi stuff on a track by track basis...plus you
are no standard arrangements ti the sings, they can mkae a
sone last 1hr with this old time tech...

can you tell me more about the remix functions? how much
room is there for improv other than muting and unmuting I
mean?

trust me, you'd get fucked off with having to use floppy
disks since they don't hold much....zips are great. the
s20's are OK I think for a phrase sampler but for the money
you'd probably be better with an s2000 or something more
versatile

as for mmt8...they're really good for live work, my mate got
one and he never uses it though

I know floppys don't hold much, I wouldn't plan on changing
between floppies much. the akai wouldn't be a big part of
my show it would just be something to make things
interesting ot me instead of everything being computer
based.

I'm mostly now just wondering about those "remix" functions
that guy was talking about the mmt8.

well, a mtt8 is a an 8 track sequencer...so remixing/
resstructring is done by using the mute/unmute/seq change
buttons, on the front of it...

Grab an early Orbital interview and they tell you the full
sory....

or http://www.mmt8.com/fmreview.html" ... is a good little read/review...
