Vocoders you mean, and it can be done well, but when it is
overused it sucks

I am addicted to Krafterky roboty voice sounds! They are so
cheesy and wicked!

I want to place a deep voice in all my tracks that says
something really stupid like...er..."I am a Rooooo-b---o-t"
or something.

ha.

Captain Ahab makes vocoders sound cool, in an 80s Duran
Duran vs. IDM way.

you have to ask why it matters that voice effects are
overdone but why doesn't it matter that guitar rock is
overdone? why don't we think "non effected vocals in music
is so overdone" "organic drums are so overdone"
it's a strange paradox

I personally love voice fx I plan on using some live like
echo and vocoding.
