in my humble opinion there are always a few tracks on every
radiohead album that piss me off.

for example, the bends has just, which i can't stand (boy am
i gonna get slagged for this), ok computer has
electioneering (argh!) and kid a has optimistic (i think
that's the one i hate, could be mistaken).

amnesiac lacks such tracks. it's the most solid album they
released, imo

Okay so I've had OKC for a week and now I must say that it
is better than Kid A. Yes Kid A more caters to the side of
me that loves electronic, but OK Computer is just 12 tracks

of sheer brilliance. Kid A is not far behind though, I
suppose it just needs more in it if you know what I mean, to

be more deeper. I think if they mix the two with the new
album then we'll have the best Radiohead yet.

1. OK Computer
2. Kid A
..Just incase you didn't get a word of that.

i think Ok Computer is better... but somehow i find myself
listening to Kid A more often. It's less exhausting to
listen to.

Amnesiac is really really really good though! Everytime i
listen to it, i like it a little bit more. I'm starting to
think this might be my favourite radiohead album.

Street Spirit (fade out) is however still their best
song... and i doubt they'll ever write a better one.

Hey dj, i just read that looooong comment. Very
interesting!

The "we didn't write it ourselves, the song chose us"-part
is a bit cliché i think. I thought it was a beautiful idea
when i first heard it, but since then almost every band in
every interview seems to have songs that "came" to them...
but still... thom takes it a bit further with saying: "I
wish that song hadn't picked us" (i'm glad it did though
;-)).

His explanation of it was what was really interesting
though! You were right, it has made me like it even more :-)
There is certainly a darkness and sadness in that song that
can hardly be described... so depressing and yet so
beautiful... all you can do is let your shoulders hang and
drown in the music.

I can also appreciate the lyrics even more now... just
seperate images that somehow describe the way the song makes
him feel... i always tried to "understand" it, but now i
realise there is nothing to understand in there.

Thanks! That was great! :-)

everyone who likes radiohead should read that! :-)

I've never seen them live, but when i do... it will sure
feel strange now if they'll play Street Spirit. I was
touched by the way he said if breaks his heart to see people
smiling to the song... "like when you're going to put down
your dog and it wags its tail on the way there"...

Radiohead is often overrated but Kid A deserves every piece
of praise it got. I say buy that one, especially if you're
lurking around on this board.

I see Amnesiac as a continuation of Kid A. The first three
tracks are excellent but the rest ain't so hot. Anyone
looking for an interesting read check out the Pitchfork
review of Kid A. It's marvellous.

I like what Stanley Donwood said about Kid A & Amnesiac....
something along the lines of Kid A being like a
telephone-call, where the other person is not home and you
listen to the anwsering-machine message.

And on Amnesiac it's like the other person picks up the
phone and you have actual contact.

Somehow that describes the album really well! (also what
thom yorke said: Kid A is like looking at the fire from a
distance, Amnesiac is like being right in the centre of the
fire).

Kid A is much more abstract... feels like a dream, you can't
"touch" it. Amnesiac is much more concrete. Simpler, less
layers... i don't really know how to describe it. They
definitly belong together, but at the same time they're also
very different.

I love it from start to finish myself, not just the first 5
tracks :-) Infact Knives Out/Morning Bell is probably the
best part of the entire album for me! Those two songs are
magic.

Heh forget about Knives Out, that's pretty good. But the run
of good songs ends there.

you don't like Spinning Plates? I thought every
radiohead-fan loved that one :-D Even the amnesiac-haters.

Well I haven't listened to it properly that much. It's just
the first half a dozen or so are instantly enjoyable for me.
I'm a strange RH fan dontcha know? As in I only like the
"for a minute there" part of Karma Police and I don't like
Exit Music as much as the others!

yeah but you don't have the OKC album very long yet right?
(at the beginning of this topic you didn't have it :-)). I
think Exit Music will probably grow on you... rest of karma
police also. It took me over a year to "get into" Climbing
Up The Walls... lots of other songs i didn't understand in
the first weeks either.

Have you heard the live-version of spinning plates on the
might be wrong-ep? That one's even better! Totally different
though... i only recognised it when he started to sing "and
this just feels like... spinniiiiing plates".

Thought Amnesiac was horrible when i first heard it...
sounded like leftovers that weren't good enough to make it
onto Kid A... but i was wrong ;-)

Ok computer.....this album captures Radiohead at its best,
the sounds and lyrics are simply amazing, of course Kid A is
great but I find myself listening to OK computer more,
theres always something new everytime you actually listen to
the album.

'sounded like leftovers that weren't good enough to make it

onto Kid A... '

That's how I feel at the moment, or at least I did before.
Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors is one of my favourite tracks of
all time by the way, just a particular energy to it...

Funny thing is, it took me only a couple of days and some
proper listening before it felt like I'd known OKC all my
life.

I think I'll skip the tracks I like on Amnesiac and see what
happens with the last tracks.

I have actually had to stop listening to OKC a couple of
times because of how fucking good it is! and I don't wanna
ruin it...
