Problem with Autechre

I was just thinking about the future of autechre and their
past. usually every cd prior to cichlisuite they've changed
dramatically. you coulnd't possibly tell the difference
except for some key foreshadowing. after cichlisuite they
basically keep the same 'idea' or concept of fast..i guess
glitchyness. I suppose they've found their 'sound' but they
arn't changing their focus anymore. i think it would be
extremely hard to change now. i mean totally abandon the
sound of IDM and say go for some vocal studies, ambiences or
some classical ideas. I they've dug themselves a hole with
things. does anyone else agree?

Bascially , no....

10000000001 & one bands do that shit...but only one (AE)
take things beyond that....

And if you think AE are a one-trick pony then you need
you're head examined, mate....:)...

no no no im not saying that. ae are totally inovative. its
just the difference between albums...its not the same as the
first few. think about the jumps between inc, amber, tri
rep and chiastic slide. none of those sound the same.
amber is like hip hoppy and tri rep is really jungle rhythm
inspired and chiastic is really harsh. you look at
cichlisuite, LP5 and LP7 ...they kinda have the same
concept. imo anyway. they all point the same direction
unlike the first cds.

that's probably true. when progress gets so far, it's
difficult to turn back.

i'd agree with jand - its just hard to see beyond the
horizon, until the new album arrives.

However, I do look forward to that Banjo & AE-unplugged

that would be great.

it would be really welcome to hear autechre doing
accoustical work. maybe even stuff like john cage .. going
really avant garde with guitars and hey! ae musical
inventions. ae should make their own physical instruments.
id like to see that! ae would have their sound down to a
science.

seems to me liek theyre always breaknig enw ground and doing
new stuff which is wicked and...well...unique and
everything

but sometimes gets in the way of making good catchy tunes.
but maybe they dont want to make simple catchy tunes.

i don't know, but i'd liek to see them do some robo drill
:):):)

or some more tri repetae stuff.

i disagree... i think that there is a bigger difference
between chastic slide lp5 and confield than incuable
ambre and tri repeate.... am i missing something... the
new shit is way more next level....

All I ask is that they keep their songs a bit fucking
shorter! (Or did they change after Tri Rep? It's the only
release I have).

god I hate it when people think of music and especially ae
in that way..

it irritates me that a lot of people who like 'idm' (SHITTY
TERM!) are really looking for pop songs with some
glitchiness in there.. I mean, especially structure-wise:
verse-chorus-verse. I hear it a lot on the tracks people
post on here too.

to make myself clear, I'm not saying thats wrong, I'm
saying its a 'close-minded' way of listening to music.

aaaaand.. I'm spent.

I think Confield was a huge jump, it's like nothing I've
ever heard. Gantz Graf was a step back, but I expect their
next full album to kick some serious arse-end.

I agree with Cfern about lp5 and confield the changes are
there but they are not the same way. Not struture, but
rather sound and quality.

Damn Confield will be so hard to top. I am not expecting
something better. If they do though I will unequivocally
hand them the IDM heavyweight belt.
