okay, i really like a group called Interpol. if any of you have heard of them or like them or hate them whatever...could you please tell me how to pronounce the name? is it "in-ter-PAUL" or "in-ter-POLE" or "in-ter-PULL"??????? most people pronounce the name "in-ter-pole" and i feel that they may be wrong...or not? |

That's the correct way. If you're English, the end bit should sound like the "poll" in poll tax (not pole as some people mis-pronounce it...). |

Yeah, like the "pol" in pol-ee (phonetically) . Poll taxt should be pronounced the same- like pol in polly. Most people do pronounce it pole though, so unless you're bothered about being correct it's not a problem. Just as a matter of coincedance my family had the discussion about how poll tax should be pronounced... my mum reckoned "pol" we reckoned "pole". My mum dug out a phonetic dictionary and it turns out she was right... |
