I find the canned Grolsch is tarter and less skunky, but the bottled while a bit skunky, is richer...
Similarly I notice a big difference in coke in cans and bottles. The canned coke is definitely superior - it's tarter, and foams more in the mouth to give more body to the drink. I think the canned coke holds the carbonation better, for one thing - maybe the plastic bottles expand more wiht the pressure than the cans?
As for Pepsi in cans and bottles, Pepsi drinkers should be bulldozed into mass graves.

Straw: yes.
Let me add: the best way to drink from a can is with a straw in a chinese restaurant with a bigass order of General Tao and rice.

Coke in glass bottles is nice when it's available.
Guinness in cans gives me a headache.
Generally, bottled beer > canned beer as long as the glass is dark. I'm not big on mister skunk, esp. after one particular case of Stella that must have sat out in the Sahara for a week under a magnifying glass. I'll make an exception for Sleemans; though in clear glass, the stock turns ofer at a rate that guarantees freshness.
For dinner tonight: Smithwicks in dark bottles and fish curry. Or fish in dark bottles and beer in a paper bag, or something. The wife will be eschewing the bevvies as she is a barbarian.

We get lots of imported beer, at least in Quebec. In Ontario you have to fill out a government application three weeks in advance to get a cup of warm Molsons in a styrofoam cup.
I understand the best beer in Amsterdam is this stuff brewed and served in a windmill.

No, I personally don't like Grolsch that much...... It just depends on where in the Netherlands you live..... In the east we like "Brand" beer..... But it's definitely not exported....

Ever get wrecked on those cheap half gallon(?) jugs of malt liquor? They're like 10-12% alcohol with names like St. Ghetto and Red Ball-Eating Wolf. It tastes like bile. It's an "I'll never drink again" experience.

Brand is okay, Heinken is shit, Grolsch is too bitter, Bavaria is shit, Amstel is shit, Oranjeboom is really shit.

I would be surprised if Heineken is better outside of Holland.

probably some cheap beer derivative.. using the name Hollandia to give you the idea its dutch, and well.. the dutch make good beer, so this must be good even though it costs nothing.. :)

i prefer bottles to cans
you dont get that tinny taste with bottles, although they turn out to be more expensive
i consider bottles to be a luxury
