Punk backround eh?

No surprises there. I saw the snares last week in camden,
and whilst having my ears torn apart, i thought that to me,
if you could make any sort of comparison, it's not hard to
relate his stuff to heavy metal. Extreme rock/extreme dance,
one with instruments, one with a computer. Both ends of the
spectrum. Flipping mental.

Thats a very old interview though, I remember reading that
about 4-5 months back, possibly longer.

It was in this tiny little venue, above a pub, probably 100
people max, some serious moshing by the nutters up front and
choas coming from the speakers. I have songs about my cats
and 2370894 and he didn't play anything from. When fanny was
playing to begin with (i'm definitely checking his stuff out
- he was great!) snares was sat at a desk at the back,
flogging tshirts and cds! He was on for an hour or so,
utterly crazy it was. There was about 10 people up front
going berserk, the rest were stood in awe. Of course it was
just too fast to do anything but jump around like a maniac
so those that wanted to, or were fucked enough to, did, the
rest just observed. I managed to get about 20 mins on vid so
at some point they'll go up somewhere for you all to be
amazed. It was a great set. Plus, a mystery figure was in
the crowd wearing some sort of red mask with a long green
hooded coat and ginger beard. Can anyone confirm if it was
rdj out for a midweek rave up? I've heard him play snares in
a dj set so he's obviously a fan. But anyway, it was f'ing
good.

Ah, to answer the original question, he did cd-dj - with the
most manic mixing i've ever witnessed.

how in god's name can you do a live set with that kind of
organised racket? he'd need to be an octopus

good point jamesa. It's the same with the later Aphex
tracks. You just can't do that stuff live! Sure you can add
effects and stuff but to get it to that extreme complexity
you'd need, as jamesa states, 8 arms...like a monkey drummer
for instance.
