the advert for Blair Wotch Project has samples from Buzz
Caner (Chaos AD)

Them high pitched sounds.. from "mind war electro" i think.

The only other SP i heard on telly was "exploding..." on an
add for "Lost", a fly-in-the-jungle" doc...

UK?

Ch4 means adverts tho...

That's gonna spoil the vibe unless they do it right..(i.e.
don't have adverts at all...)...

We should protest by turning off the TV, watching the DVD or
Divx (with some SQPR on in the background of course..)...DIY
TV...

I've got it on DVD anyhoo :)
I'm waiting till halloween to see it again. What did people
think of Blair Witch 2? Loads of people slated it, but it's
the first time in years I've genuinely been afraid enough to
want to skip a scene (I didn't though). It is a bit
cheesy/cliched, but it has some damn scary moments...

i love that film. I saw it in the states before Europe even
heard about it and didn´t even see any of the hype. It blew
me away.... Kinda shows that hype can ruin it cos my freinds
back here when they saw it lived through so much hype they
thought it was shit. From now on i never read reviews and
ignore all media shite on movies. Case in point : "LOTR"....
didn´t see anything about it and when i saw Gandalf for the
first time.. i creamed myself!!

bw2.. had a interesting premise... but like "jaws".... LEAVE
IT THE FUCK ALONE!!

good sequels .. aliens, 2010, godfather etc

yeah, I liked BW2 ...

Total departure from BW1 but how do you do a follow-up to
that without ruining the original?....I reckon they took the
right route with it and it's stands up in it's own right as
seperate to BW1...

BW1 made me interested in films again...I totally loved that
movie...

I didn't like the 1st Blair Witch so I haven't seen the 2nd.
It was too built up for me as being the scariest film ever.
Went to a late night showing and just sat there bored. I was
more scared coming out of the cinema and walking through
Luton in the middle of the night. I'm going to give it
another go on Sunday though with headphones on and complete
darkness. I really want to be scared by a film.

nothing special about BW
but probably the best possible way to make a movie with a
budget like that

when i first saw blair witch i had never seen any hype about
it in tv or anywhere. it was very long time before it
arrived to finland. i was told before the film that hey,
this is REAL. i was stoned and terrified. when the end
credits came i felt really stupid.

I think Clerks did a better job.

You were lucky. If I'd not heard all the hype I reckon I
would've enjoyed it. I'd heard all about Usual Suspects but
not too much. If someone had told me the end detail then I
would've hated it. People tell the ending of films like it's
their duty.

Pi is a top film. Managed to catch it on Film Four. Need to
get the DVD. I love Kevin Smith films. Having worked in a
video shop as well it's too funny. I couldn't help but laugh
everytime someone rented Navy Seals or a Segal film in
general. People would ask for a funny film film. Give them
Clerks and they'd come back and say the colours gone. Morons

I really hated clerks. I thought it was absolutely gash. I
liked the other 3 jay & silent bob films, but clerks was
really bad IMO.

I usually enjoy films for the first time most when:
I have it on DVD,
I watch it in the dark in surround sound,
I've turned my phone off and told my flatmates not to
disturb me.

It's so much easier to get into a film when you don't have
kids shouting out or giggling or people eating popcorn
loudly...

Strange you like the others but hate Clerks. I take it
you've seen all 5 then? I personally thought Dogma the
weakest. I agree with you on the film enjoyment perspective.
Some films have to be watched on a more personal level. Shut
yourself out from everything and just watch the film.

true....none of em really captured the charm of
Clerks...that was a one off & I reckon KS spoilt things
somewhat by contiinuing with those characters...

Good points both of you. My favourite is Mallrats though
which is generally seen as the worst. I thought he carried
on the characters too long as well. I'm glad Strike Back was
the last. He's gone on record though as saying that the only
reason he stopped J&SB films is because of J's drug abuse.

5, I thought it was 4:
Clerks,
Mall Rats,
Dogma,
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

In that order?

I just didn't see what was funny about clerks apart from the
guy in the video store made a few good wise cracks.

Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
JASBSB

Each to their own on Clerks really. Not everyone can like
the same things. Technically there's 6 if you count the
Clerks cartoon.

Is "chasing amy" any good? I'd heard of it, but didn't
realise it was a J&SB movie. Looks like that'll be the film
to nurse my hangover with...

It is good but not in the same way as the others. It's still
funny but less a J&SB movie and more the Holden & Banky
characters. I can't really say whether I recommend it or
not. I suppose if you liked the others (except Clerks) then
you should like this one. It's really a case of watch it and
find out. If you were nearer I'd lend you the DVD but Wales?
Not travelling that far to lend a DVD.

Clerks was a big part of that whole Licklaters
Slacker/Couplands Gen X thing...the other films just didn't
fit into that world, they were more big-budget, hollywood
(however "knowing" or pseudo-ironic etc...)...

I'm trying to not say KS SOLD OUT...but that's what it
looked like to me....

Maybe I would of liked clerks if I hadn't seen the others. I
guess part of the disappointment was due to having seen the
others and thinking it would be like those- like you say, it
doesn't fit into that world...

giginger: RE Usual suspects. My brother saw a copy of the
promo poster "Who is it?" with them all standing in a line
up. Some git had drawn an arrow and written him on Spacey's
character. Absolute bastard, that's so annoying.
