I don't burn many CDs, but the ones I actually do burn I like to be half decent sounding. However, I have Roxio and it's ok except it won't let me access half the functions and worst of all: it puts that 2 second pause between tracks automatically! It's really annoying and since I don't pay them money they won't let me access transition options. I checked download.com for a good freeware one that does this simple task but no luck. can anyone help me out?

I've not found a good free one. The free software that comes with the drives like EZ CD Crapper aren't very good. I finally shelled out some $ for Nero and am happy. It makes VCDs too.

uviol, did you try setting the record method In Roxio's Easy CD Creator to 'disc at once' rather than 'track at once' as when its done by track at once, it is supposed to by default have a 2 second gap.

You should get "Acoustica", it's a great piece of cd burning software. You'll just need to get a crack (registration code) for it. You can get that at www.astalavista.com
(Acoustica itself can be found on download.com)

well, I still suspect that Roxio's worthless for other reasons, but no, I did not try that disc at once trick yet! thank you, I will be sure to give it a whirl before I completely write it off. that 2 second gap was my main complaint. still, the nero info is helpful because roxio seems pretty limited unregistered. but i will be sure to try disc at once. Thanks guys.

try nero. its not free but if youve got soulseek you should find it.
also, some burners (hardware) are uncompatable with not leaving the two second gap, and must by default leave that gap.

Nero gives me two second gaps even when I use 'Disc at once' :/ I have a LiteOn writer now since I punched the draw thru the back of my last one.
