there isn't much out. my advice is to go down to mac os 9.2, you can use pretty much anything then. wait until more comes out for os x.

i'm messing about a bit with supercollider 3 for os X, other than that i haven't found much to play with really. Haven't d/led gcc for X yet, but i really wouldn't know how to go about writing doing audio stuff cos /dev/dsp isn't there. Have to poke about a bit more, get the developer CD stuff going.... Ziess.. what are you writing?

I'm writing a sequencer cause i'm too skint to buy one and pro tools free under OS 9 just don't cut it anymore.
I like the idea of apple bundling the developer tools with all new macs, its like having a spectrum again!

well, it really depends whether the 3rd party developers will adopt audio core/units, whatever they're called - but again, the transition phase has got to suck. hopefully it'll be worth it in the end.
kontakt x or halion x would be nice too - :),

Remember tha theres no point in being pissed about a lack of VST in Logic cuz
a)It may well be added at a later stage, and b) All old VST's and VSTi's would have to be re-written to run under Mac OS X.
c)Audiounits are better than VST. More low-level integration with the OS (core audio is part of the kernel) and better peformance, less jitter , lower latencies etc.
Audio units and core audio is/are the way forward. See http://www.apple.com/macosx/audio for a fuller explanation.

"I'm writing a sequencer cause i'm too skint to buy one" use supercollider...! www.audiosynth.com that way you don't have to completely reinvent the wheel. I got the guts of a nice little multichannel/multifile sample editor going in it. An environment for doing tunes in is my next project :)
