i saw the japanese one too (called simply RING, not the
ring) and i thought it was scary but i'd read somewhere
about this movie having horrible gore/splatter scenes in it.
Is there another movie before this one? so that would mean
this 'the ring' will be the 2nd remake?

no

Ring
Ring 2
Ring-0

and now Ring (USA)

man, the Japanese version freaked me out, amazing film...

all the actors are very good, and the main character
(SADAKO) was the best ...

I doubt the americans will be able to match the JAP version,
no chance..... !

oh shit, i just saw a sneak preview of the ring, the
american version. it was eerie as hell. i thought it was
gonna suck, but it was really good. i think anyone whos seen
the japanese version will really like this.

people who think the american version is "an action packed
pile of shit" couldn't be more wrong. besides the original
ring and don't look now its one of the eeriest things i've
seen.

isn't it about a video or something like that?

what's the difference between the japanese ring 1, ring 2
and ring o?

yeah. if you watch the video you die in seven days. i
haven't seen the sequels, so i couldn't tell you. watch the
original japanese version, as its still the best, then go
see the american one, as its got some really freaky moments
in it and really nice cinematography.

i still dont quite get it..

the movie i saw was japanese, called RING, and the back
cover didnt say anything about a prequel or sequel or
anything. It was released in video stores over here just
about a month ago.

which part did i see?

uhhh...dude, thats what i just posted like three times. yes,
i HAVE seen the american version, it was shown as a sneak
preview in the movie theater i work in. and it was damn
good. blew away the naysayers, although not quite as good as
the japanese version.

it's good to hear it's worth at least the price of admission
(unless your sneaky =0)

the last 10 minnows of the japanees version gave me
goosebumps all ovah....it was SO GOOD. i dunno about the
acting in the japanese version.....i thought they were
believable....not oscar winners but passable.

i wanna see this halloween weekend....along with some other
scary fare with my boyfriend. i love scary movies.....and
having someone to protect me.....tee hee

like 50 copies for sale.

Don't get me started on RING... I can't wait for the book to
be translated.

Shame it's not out in the UK yet... I'm really interested to
see if it's as good as the Jap one.

RING wasn't just scary at the end tho... all the way
through, the way it was directed, felt real scary. I love
it.

Shame the american version focuses on the "When you die you
see the ring" theme. Nothing to do with the jap one. The
book is called RING coz it's apparently ringwo..... no.... I
won't spoil it for you. :) that'd be mean.
