Before I got into Aphex and the whole IDM thing, I used to
be into this french group called Deep Forest. I was like the
biggest fan of them. But then I discovered Aphex and haven't
gone back. But still, I'm surprised that there's not even
one mention of them here!!

Come on, there must be someone here who's heard of them! :-z

Oh yes!
I also know them longer than I know Aphex twin.
I still listen to their music.
That song, Bulgarian melody is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!
It's still one of my favourite songs, after so many years.
(That girl's voice! , that piano! YàY!)
deep folk song 's cool too.
Pity it's only one minute.

French band I like at the moment is 'Backstab' It's like
metal mixed with Indian and techno, Very nice. I love
'L'oeil du clone' and 'Opaque' which even has a bit
slaphappy jungle in.

well...let's just say the vocals aren't in english. More
like pygmies and forest people singing. But Deep Forest are
great becuase they mix tribal with electronica.

Jonesy: Yeah, their very similar to Enigma, but not
so...religious and spiritual if you know what I mean.

Enigma's good too, although I think I prefer Deep Forest...

BTW: What do you think of my new avatar? That's the logo for
my artist name "Glekken". See, it's like a backwards G
turned into a K. Cool, huh?

The only thing positive I found about the first DF cd was
that they used a Roland JD-800 for synths. In a time when
the JD-800 was expensive as hell, the CD worked as a nice
placebo.

I had their first album at one point, but I have to agree
with jand for the most part. There were 1 or 2 decent tracks
on the album, though.

I don't think you can really compare them with Enigma though
- although I've only heard Enigma's first two albums.
Enigma's first album was better.

sweet lullaby is an amazing track, and the only thing apollo
440 have ever done thats worth listening to is their remix
of this track

principles of lust by enigma is another really easy on the
ear track i can;t get enough of. maybe its more about 'at
the time', its going back a bit

I mean, really.

come on, Enigma & Deep Forrest are so awful.. no original
idea in there at all.. only thing missing is whale sounds,
some pan flute..

I'm really surprised so many people here like that muzak
crap.

surprised and embarressed.

I cannot express my deep felt contempt for this kind of
music.

listening to that stuff is like somebody vomiting in your
ear.

I'm sorry, I'll stop now.

there's 8 mixes of sweet lullaby, they're all interesting to
listen to, different people's interpretations etc

the ambient mix is nice, i used to listen to it a lot when i
used to stay up all night and go to bed around 10am, last
thing in the morning
