Who isn't cringe-worthy?

Everybody makes me cringe... Tool- too dark and humorless,
and even the attempts at humor are so black, they become
ANTI-humor... NIN- Trent is obviously an amazing artist,
with cheese to spare... Radiohead- Thom is getting on my
nerves lately, and again, too serious... Pink Floyd- too
smooth and sexy and slow... Bob Dylan- too... folkish...
Kinks- Too showy... Rolling Stones- too badass... Clash- too
anti-establishment, and their line ''phony Beatlemania has
bitten the dust'' infuriates me, cocky little fucks aren't
fit to suck Lennon off... RDJ-trying too hard lately... BOC-
too samey and funless... Autechre- why do I get the feeling
they WANT to be melodic again, but feel obligated NOT to
be?... Tom Jenk- DYKS sucks

Anyway... I just listed so many of my favorite artists...
and all their cringe worthy points that get on my nerves.

This leaves three artists that can do no wrong...

The Beatles

Syd Barrett

Joy Division

Perfection! The Beatles, even when doing something goofy, or
even an artistic misstep, seem so genuine... enjoying
themselves and catering to NOBODY, I mean, what demographic
were THEY targeting, other than the four guys in the band?

Syd Barrett- so goofy and weird, but so sad... I love him
and I'd give my left arm to give him the chance to be young
and creative again, the guy always makes me smile a sad
smile, poor guy. No pretension in his weirdness, he just WAS
that weird.

Joy Division- aside from a few 80's aspects (I don't like
the synth in ''Isolation'', for example), Curtis is just too
great, pessimistic angry lyrics with none of the Trent R
cheese. He just seems so REAL.. his depression was genuine,
and unfortunately he proved it...

And that's all I've got to say! Everybody else has flaws,
but these three have never let me down and did everything to
perfection. And all three ended prematurely... do you have
any idea how mad I get that the Beatles stopped at Abbey
Road, when it was obviously music's nadir? Went out on top!
FUCKERS!!!!!

Do you fol

''Do you fol'' ?

for cutting me off.

"The Beatles

Syd Barrett

Joy Division"

i haven't heard any syd, but there are some beatles and JD
songs that make me cringe. most old beatles, and a couple JD
songs with overly dark lyrics that i don't think were
sincere.

Well it's your opinion... you have the right to be wrong.

;-) j/k

Actually some early Beatles cover songs just annoy me, but
when they hit their stride they're just the band I wish I
was in.

i think it's good these artists aren't compromising
themselves for opinions like yours... no offense, i just
like it that pink floyd are so incredibly what they are, and
radiohead so serious, and so on. as for the question...
bjork makes me not cringe.

What's wrong with my opinion? I love all the artists listed,
made it a point to bring up all my faves... it's not
slighting the artists, it's just an opinion... I can delete
it if it'll hurt their feelings.

Bjork makes me cringe, BTW. ;-)

jd is so good. and so is the beatles. you're right with that
genuinity thing. no other musician would sound credible
singing about octopusses and submarines. (allthough yellow
submarine is such an annoying song)

i've never even heard of this syd barret.

he looks a lot better than he did in the early 90s though.
He was hardly gonna look 23 forever. :(

Dobbin, I know what you mean -- but that's an outtake -- put
in to perpetuate the tragic mythos.

LONG LIVE BARRETT!

Ophecks you didn't mention a single classical composer or
jazz musician. How about world music, like Nusrat Fateh Ali
Khan? Or the unknown genius who composed incidental music
for The Beachcombers.

You can get these old CBC tapes where Glenn Gould is
stuffing yams in his asscrack.

PS nadir means lowest point.

If you're expecting another Go Plastic... I think you'll be
sorely disapointed.

And if you read his ''manifesto'', it seems even worse.

Anstromm Feck 4 is pretty drilly, and would fit on it, but
this track gets old... at first I thought it was great,
now... eh.

The rest is really... strange. I've barely listened, they
just don't interest me at all, so I couldn't really tell you
what the fuck they are.

The first track is the Untitled single from a while back,
and THAT song is amazing! Buy it just for THAT if you don't
already have it.

The live show is a non factor.

i dont seem to like spusher as much as i thought anyways. i
love go plastic but big loada is just not as good, same with
selection 16 and hard normal daddy. those last 3 releases
are ok but just not all of the songs are good and they dont
flow or have a similar theme\style.
