hate his music, love his spoken word shows!
man, he's so funny, and I find I can really agree with him..
he also is on some kind of board that wants to preserve the electronic music of Raymond Scott..

I like his writing as well. If you are 15 and you are having trouble working things out. Read some. I still pick it up now and again.

I feel the same way! Hate his music , love his spoken word. Haven't seen a whole show yet, but a tv special on him. A smart man with big muscles.

I have a few of his books, can't read them anymore. the A L L = D A R K N E S S view gets tiring pretty quick.
I have seen him live two years ago here in the Netherlands. really funny, three and a half hours long. he started out with saying that he indeed comes from the US and no, he didn't vote for the insane Bush.. ha ha.

ah! well..
get the later stuff, is the simple answer. earlier stuff is more the INTENSE stuff, later on its still intelligent but extremely funny..
EXTREMELY recommended: - Live at the Westbeth Theater - Eric the Pilot - Think Tank (especially the 2nd cd)
VERY recommended: - The Boxed Life - Human Butt
thats about half of the spoken word cds available.. other ones are good too.. there are also LOTS of bootlegs.. (including the show I saw..)..
on the books front: there are LOTS! go here:
Henry Rollins: author!

The only good cd Rollins Band put out was "Weight", but I definitely agree, the rest of his music blows goat testicles. I've not heard any of his spoken word material, but I think if you're into his spoken word, you should DEFINITELY check out Jello Biafra's spoken word albums. Absolutely brilliant man.
