i cant believe how fast his new album is selling, and how equally fast people dismiss it.
it's been out since tuesday over here, and i already saw 5 of them in the local second hand record store. i was surprised.

Actually its incredibly embarrasing because those 'newbies' who see the question 'do you know squarepusher?' might get that as their first cd and expect sp to be like that throughout his discography. But there are much better cds than that out there.

it's true what you say for people wanted to get into squarepusher and trying dyks right off the bat. but come to think of it, it was the same with ae's confield, though confield is a masterpiece, it just took some time to get into it.

THIS is no masterpiece... the more I listen, the more I dislike it. Same with Gantz Graf, actually...
Now Confield... that's the epitome of ''sucks at first, but will be amazing if you give it time''... what an album, it has this demented magic.

F-Train rapping...
"Aformations become distant light sources pin point curved fragments.
Mysterious elements constretching (?) incubator (?) illuminate strange tangents.
Electrocution intigrate into life on stretcher beds. Conceved by airborne sickness.
Savanic (?) cold avenues of silence.
Get into grits prepreation for long falls. Staircases previously seen only by the dead.
Seems to position in time with the United States (?)
But return to areas (?) like fools running into doors (?)
oh forget it...i can't get the rest of it.
[my try at the chorus]
Action discrepincy (?) indicated text consealed controlled anomoly,
Mutilation economy reflects triangular energy,
something avoid the diagram, invisibility,
and some other big words im not going to try to figure out by the low tone voice."
Well folks, you don't see that kind of rap coming out of New York hehe...

yeah im not crazy about the new squarepusher.... i like his old stuff more..
...but im not ruling out the possibility that it may become amazing with time, who knows....
...it doesn't seem that way now though:( i hope it gets better with time!
what happened to the brilliant mad-genius squarepusher we know and love!
this is just mad squarepusher! (of course it has its moments... its good, but i've come to expect AMAZING from squarepusher)

I agree - with the exception of the title track and his cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart, it's wank. I wish he would go back to his old sound, but he's the artist, so it's his decision. First AE, now SP. Next AFX will release some unlistenable gabber crap and further alienate his fans.

the live set sounds raw and metallic somehow, can't listen to it too often, i'm afraid. the energy is awesome, though
i like most of the tracks on the ep, but the tracks don't seem to belong together. not much evolution since go plastic.
still, if you want a problem with your neighbours, it's perfect ;)

Did you like Druqks? Cause I thought that was shit for ages and now it's on daily rotation round mine. Even my mum's into it now. Well, not all the tracks.
At the time it got slagged by a lot of people who said it was just a contract-breaker, a piss-take, see what the saps will pay money for - "You cunt. You stupid cunt!" etc.
Is this the case with Do You... - is he saying we're all a bunch of "DYKS" to buy this record? I've had it a while on MP3, found it a bit boring, haven't really tried listening to it much. But I should give it a proper try before I judge.
I bought Go Plastic and it did my nut in. It took an extended mong-out session in the back of my car, months later, to convince me of its worth. I'm listening to I Wish You Could Talk right now.

the scarey thing is i didn't get the same thing with DYKS! what if i dont grow to love it?!?
(dont get me wrong here though.. like i said before, i think some (about half) of the songs are great... it just doesn't seem to be up to squarepusher's usual standards of... uh..... good shit! lol

I liked Confield from the very second of VI Scose Poise. It wasnt challenging at all except for Pen Expers...which I thought was over drawn at first. Although I still think that its awesome. The whole cd reeks of genious and it will be the cd all IDM looks to. Its the highlight. We'll never see anything more organized. ever.

actually... i think this is what Tom J wanted to put out... so if you don't get "it", well, you 'don't know squarepusher' i would think he would say... i don't think he is interested in releasing "traditional" songs at the moment... it is challenging, but "sucks"?...no... the first track is great no matter what, and the sound of "love will tear us apart" grows on me even although the vocals seem like he was too embarrassed to try to really sing so he just sorta softly sang half-assed as in a 'didnt want to disturb the person in the next room' style...
the live disc though... havent listened too closely yet, but really seems kinda pointless... can't tell what is live and what isn't... plus i'm pissed that he pulled out of his gig at the wexner center, so i'm bitter, the bastard!

I think the new EP is cool. I ve listened for the Squarepusher since Port Rhombus.
I have the same feeling like when Big Loada came out. After Hard Normal Daddy it was quite disappointing because it was too "straight" and unjazzy. Go Plastic was a Masterpiece no doubt.
"Do you know Squrepusher" is weak in my Opinion. I think "Anstromm-Feck 4" is totally WICKED !!!! This cheap Midi Bassline just blew my Mind. The other Tracks are all of a good Quality but I think no on can beat tracks like "My fucking sound" , "Boneville Occident" or Red Hot Car. The live CD is okay but why didnt they take the sound out of the mixing desk than just place a minidisc with a cheap microphone next to the bar? Squarepusher knows how to do it better. Im also disapointed that he isnt playing bass at all. I think that is what hes doing best ! The Tracks are live mostly the same as on Go Plastic so why should I listen to that Crap Quality.
To you guys on the Messageboard : Try to judge the single tracks instead of saying "It sucks" or "Its splendid.
