Who here has NOT seen these in real life? If you havent then I suggest you go out of your way to. We get them often enough in most parts of my province, or area of Canada. The last 3 nights they have visited me on the night shift of my job. Tonight I went out for a smoke around 3am, and I looked up, the WHOLE night sky was clear, that I could tell - but it was Green laces of light everywhere, crossing the whole sky from one end to the other, some jagged, some soft lines, some straight, some mingled with each other, and some curved like giant "C"'s in the sky. It was amazing, but the best part aint yet...
About half way through my smoke, and still watching the lights in the sky, they mostly "flowed" together and formed a giant green quivering mass in the sky, BRIGHT green, dancing away.... which is quite magical and makes you feel sort of "not" human in a way.... it was so breath taking. Then all of a sudden they were moving a lot more and rapidly chaning color from red, to blue to purple, to white and back and forth... FAST.... for about 2 whole minutes I watched this happened, so amazed I could not even speak to myself... the ENTIRE (and we all know its big) sky was lit up, changing colors rapidly. It was unlike anything id seen of the northern lights before, and ive seen a lot of them in my life. this is probably one of the most awe inspiring things a person could ever see, mystical nature at work. It was breathtaking to say the least.

broken phillip: not quite yet, but soon.. yes, very soon. It frosts up at night sometimes now, its devent during the day, give it 2-3 weeks and It will be snowing probably. Oh well..... I like the winter just as much as summer, for different reasons. I think winter can be more beautiful sometimes. Especially at night.
This was amazing, the entire sky was like a chameleon. But more intense.... the light..

i remember seeing some crazy assed northern lights in labrador. they looked like shards of ice, but in all kinds of funky colours, green, purple, pink, blue, yellow, white, and they were dancing over my head. wonderful.

The reflection of vivid northern lights off ice and snow is about the most surreal setting you could be in. Sadly I'm a little far south to see it more than once in 4 years or so...

ive only seem them a few times.. one of them was just last month, here in toronto!
(its very rare for them to be visible here this far south and becaues of the city's bright lights)
We had a great view from a friend's balcony, the lights were spread out in the north part of the sky... it looked like soft green curtains being blown about and folding over itself..
not very bright compared to the ones up north, but still very eerie and beautiful
