THIS IS FRUITYLOOPS?! (323kb)
I found this jazzrock quartet jamming in my basement, and trapped them in a loop --
this is the result of that trapping.

What did you think of that loop? I spent at least 2 minutes of my life dedicated to making it, I mean recording the lost jazzrock quartet.

I made that loop using only Sonic Implants soundfonts:
Blue Jay Drums Acoustic Guitar Chords Rhodes Rock Bass
And it took me two minutes! incredible!!

you're really getting into Fruiloops for short periods of time, Paul..
maybe I'll try and use it in something (in a fucked up and distorted way)..
doesn't sound like a jazz-combo though - more like a schoolband or something.. still, its better than your last FL-venture..

Thanks Jack, I dig that Rhodes myself -- all programmed in on Piano Roll of course, since I have no MIDI keyboard (or ANY keyboard except this one I'm typing on)
Keep your eyes peeled for future "Make A Loop In 2 Minutes" releases! Maybe we can organise a Fun Competition!

thats one of the most organtic things I've heard from fruityloops. Most of my songs either start in fruityloops and then get chopped up and tweaked with other programs or at the least use fruityloops later on in the production for a tricky trick here and there. but my stuff isn't nearly organic like that. But I like how it is.

Some of the best stuff you can make are done in a few minutes time. simplicity keeps you in the range of what is natural to you and what is natural is generally what is most honost for you. and what is natural for you is also what you have most experience in so you're going to do your best work in the first few minutes of sitting down at a project. anything after that I think is just polishing the original spirt of creativity and molding and shaping. sometimes just spinning wheels.

I agree with you -- I keep my work simple and simplistic, and then maybe go back in "post-production" (hehe) to throw in a little bit more depth to the mix.
My tracks have been getting real short recently as I've moved more away from relying on one loop for 8 minutes

yeah my longest song to date is like 7 minutes I think. most of them are around 4 or 5 minutes. Actually alot of times I have extremely similar lengths in songs because I use 180 for almost all my work and always use very similar song formats so the length of the song will end without seconds of the last one. Not like thats great or anything just interesting I guess.

When I made techno on ReBirth a few years ago, I was the same -- similar tempoes, buildups in all the "right" places :)
my tracks are barely scraping two minutes at the moment, but that's their will, not mine

keem thep short, like imaginary fantasy and tom 7 entertainment system. what would you rather have, an album with 60 1-minute tracks, an album with 6 10-minute tracks, an ice cream sandwich, or a kick in the nads? Plus it makes it easier on us boor pastards that have to "review" it. or thomesing.

Actually I often really like albums that are only a few tracks that are extremely long. Often groups that pull such an act are brilliant. God speed you black emperor for one. Some of mogwai's albums. Really long good songs. Mogwai has an album that is only one song for over 30 minutes.

I could string 15 songs together, throw in a couple of "main themes" and call it one track lasting 30 minutes :D
I agree with w M w -- when someone spams a track and you go to download it, and find out it's 7mb (thru a 28k modem), a groan does escape :-)
I agree with john, I too like those albums with long songs :D
