I think warp are finding it a bit hard with one of the founders dieing not so long ago....It's still just one guy making all the decisions so it's a bit mono sounding..I hope they sort it out soon, they've done some great things.... geogaddi was good, very melodic and not OTT on the plug in nonsense that everyone is doing to death at the moment, all this granular editing crap is going to sound sooo dated in about two weeks! |

boards sound good cos they hardly touch computers...everything is analogue so it just sounds more real which is why i like them...people like brothomstates and plaid are all going down the same path and even autechre are losing the ability to do anything new....electronic music is gonna change a lot in a couple of years but who's gonna do it? |

brothomstates is 'nice IDM' there's zero personality and 100% emulation of warp past tricks. I love black dog but plaid are a bit too scared to comit on record for me. I still like autechre, I think they are brave to release confield, it's completely up their arse and they are proud of it, it's a punk record to me. BOC used Reaktor quite a lot on geogaddi but it's a taste thing, they didn't get carried away with the processing over the emotion which is admirable especially when they had soo much time contemplating this release.. |
