I like Autechre but they don't touch Richard D James and i'm pretty sure if it wasnt for him Autechre would be going in a totally diferent way musicly.

Oh come on...Aphex Twin, good as he is, didn't invent electronic music. Dare I say it but Aphex was heavily influenced himself by Squarepusher and Luke Vibert. So much so there was a total shift in his style of music.
Plus Autechre have a completely different style to Aphex so it is putting them down saying they would be going a different direction if it wasn't for Aphex.

If you like Autechre more then Aphex well good on you, I can't be assed to get into an argument about it. suit yourself.
The style reeks of Aphex and if you can prove AE started making music like that before Aphex well nothing changes, you like you like. It matters not.
