hmm, they're only distributed by warp in europe, their label
is truly thrill jockey. also, i don't consider vincent gallo
particularly electronic either...

All this nitpicking!

You can just disregard all other artists anyway and assume
the lion's share of votes is going to be divided among 5
artists. Although... make that 6, since I didn't expect
PLAID to be ahead of Mike P!

Weird seeing Radiohead up there, too...

tortoise has hardly done anything electronic? are you
insane?

have you heard 'djed'?

i have all their albums except for the self-titled; they've
never made an "electronica" album or even a full-fledged
"electronica" track unless it was a b-side or compilation
track.

they make a combination of instrumental stuff and
electronica - much like a lot of people who make
electronica.

I mean, by your measure, squarepusher isn't electronica?

on a differererererent point - Spreading Phlox: thats a
pretty shitshort list. you're doing a poll of what people
like best out of the people you like.

don't jump to conclusions, i never said anything about
squarepusher not being electronica, nor red snapper or
cinematic orchestra by that token. i just don't consider
tortoise an electronic group; seems silly to label them that
when they have so much more in common with rock and even
jazz. electronica and hip-hop are more like secondary
influences IMO.

imo they have more in common with electronica.

oh well.. :)

i just don't hear them as an electronica group, and i listen
to them a lot. standards is definitely their most electronic
album and at the same time it also has some of their most
straight-ahead guitar riffs. what specific type of
electronica do you think pertains to their overall sound?

Its true that i didnt know what i was taking on in trying to
choose a list for everyone to choose from.

Im sure that i included as many different artists as most
would come up with but there are always people missed that
someone else likes.
In the last few days alone i have got into people that i
would have put on the list.

Ideally people would type out their favourite for the vote.

check biosphere if you like ambient music
he's done about 10 albums, and they're all wonderful
now that i got into him, im checking other musicians that
produce for his record label-biophon- first two i got are
very cool
