4x's outta 10 i listen to my autechre CD's. I just bought
Gaf Gantz this weekend. i like the first track, hate the
2nd, can listen to the 3rd.

i have EP7 and found Tri++ (double cd) for 5 bucks somewhere
on vacation. These guys can do some cool things with
audio....i know "they' write their stuff, and they can do
what they want...but don't some of you want to hear the
'commercial sounding' autechre....maybe just once.... i love
the new single? ep? but my folks and sibblings heard it and
thought my stereo was on the frittz. i dunno anyone else
feel the same way?

i'm with you on this buddy. i know a lot of people are gonna
hate your suggestion but not me; i'd love to see them branch
out and collaborate with more mainstream artists. they could
do hip-hop stuff much doper than prefuse 73 if they wanted
to. also i think they could do better pop songs (not
necessarily w/ vocals) than dntel, telefon tel aviv, and
plaid if they wanted to.

Appetite For Disctruction is a good album.

Appetite for Disctruction is their own stuff..

bu there is "Additional Production" and "Vice Versa" on
which they remix other people..but the songs are
unrecongnizable from the originals..they become pretty much
their own creation...

and yeah they do a lot of Hip-Hop inflected stuff..and they
do it better than Prefuse73..so titsworth and USACID..this
here is all you want..

I don't think "plunge" and "future" are two words that
should go together...

of course there are lots of "alternatives" to autechre. i
listen to some and i appreciate them for their individual
qualities, not just as substitutes. what i'm saying is, ae
shouldn't box themselves into doing idm music by themselves.
in addition to their own individual (ok, group) journey
through music (incunabula through gantz graf), they should
try out some outside work because it's a shame not to
utilize the broad range of talent those boys possess.
they've even admitted that some of the more melodic stuff on
gantz graf felt good to make, so it's not like they're only
capable of making brilliant technical masterpieces.

So the question now becomes:

"Does Autechre know what Autechre is capable of?"

it's possible, but i don't think they have the same attitude
as RDJ: "i do all sorts of things but i'll only let you hear
some of it, the rest is years ahead of everyone else so i'll
release it then."

stole the words right outta my mouth...Gescom is everything
Autechre isnt and vice versa...that's a broad range in
between the two..and they do do remixes of other people too.
