Alright, I just...uhm, "bought" a copy of FruityLoops 3.5,
and I'm finally giving it a fair chance. So far, I must say,
this program is just what everyone (who likes it) has said:
amazing program. Now that I've actually gone through the
manual and all that, it's quite easy to set up songs and get
started. Plus, it sounds so much better than Tuareg or even
ReBirth. I definitely dig this program.

I was so wrong about it!

*hangs head in shame*

Yes - with the right plug-ins correctly used, Fruityloops
can be very slick - especially with the correct usage of
Compression, EQ, and Reverb/Delay.

Plus, since it recognises VST synths, and Trackers, it's
doubly useful. Soulseek is a great source for VST synths - I
myself have got Absynth, Juno X2, FM7, FM heaven, some muon
stuff and lots more from there

I made my first FruityLoops-based song. It's just over 2
minutes in length, so it's short, but I'm still learning the
program. I'll post a link to it later today.

short is good - too many people feel obliged to make 7
minute tracks that change very little... a 2 minute track
with good ideas/dynamics is far better than an 8 minute
track with one idea looped 32 times...

Okay, so 4 people downloaded it. What'd you think of the
song, eh?

It normally crashes my computer if I try it. I can import a
MIDI file in no problem though.

Well at first it was a nice junglesque beat -- but finally
it got boring... just about saved by the dubby ending -- but
I just now fast forwarded it a minute and a half on winamp
and I didn't realise since there was no difference... a
track should evolve not run rings around itself...

But like you said, your first track - good work.

6.5/10

I 'programmed' all the rhythms myself.

and to Kozmik: well hey, without criticism, things can't
grow or change. so i appreciate that feedback as well.

Fruityloops is well underestimated! Ive produced some mint
tracks with it and i cant tell the differnce between floops
and some other over priced sequencer package! Get ya self a
shit load of Plug-ins and it stands out from the rest!

Where are your tracks located?

I thought the track was quite interesting. And it's nice to
see someone hasn't underestimated the Casio VLT-1!

No matter how hard I try I can't get the hang of this
program. I find it confusing, and difficult to make anything
quality.

My best advice would just be to read through the manual(s)
and tutorial(s) it comes with. Those can really help a lot,
and if you follow through the step-by-step tutorial, you'll
really get the hang of how to do what and where.
