SQUAREPUSHER no show, PLAID Excellent

PostModernVancouver from Vancouver,Canada on 2001-08-08 15:02 [#00020411]

OH well, I went down to our lovely venue called Sonar last
nite, and were told that Squarepusher was a no-show, but
Plaid was still going to be playing, thank god...
We were all going to get a $10 dollar refund without
Square..
So we walked in at around 10:45 and Plaid was on
already...dammit!!!
Usually the acts come on until the last 2 hours before its
closing time, but we neednt have worried because they'd only
been on for about 10 minutes or so, and by god, they sounded
wonderful!!!
The floor was jampacked and they had wonderful videoimages
behind them on a big screen.
We ended up at the front anyways, and watched with glee.
They played a fair bit of RARE stuff here, and it sounded
fantastic!!
Ofcourse the whole night one was being surrounded with talk
about Squarepusher being a no-show ( which I expected
anyways), but I went there for Plaid anyways, but there were
truly a lot of pissed-off people there, some of them who
didnt even know who Plaid were!
No, it's still worth going (without Squarepusher being
there) because Plaid really pulled out all stops, but I do
feel bad for the fans who were there mainly for Square but
it just sort of should tell ya that he should either grow up
or WARP should've put it on their newspage that Square was
going to be cancelled IMO>.
I wonder whats happening in Seattle tonite......

ditto for Sonar, barcelona.

did see him dublin the week before though...won't make ya
nuts with the details of his mind-blowing set

at barcelona...met a warp dude who said..."he's a manic
depressive genious. When he gets in a mood not to play, he
don't play - end of story". As if promoters are gonna print
on there posters 'Squarepusher live aug. 24th - may get in
mood and not show up"!!
Cylob at a recent gig told me 'he gets into producing a tune
and he won't leave it...".....nature of the beast i'm
afraid.

squarepusher and plaid are playing on my birthday here in
philly. I already bought the tickets for me and my twin
brother. I really hope that he doesn't cancel any more
shows, I know touring must be rough playing in all these
different cities every night. but this time when he plays in
philly it is going to be special because its on my 21st
birthday, who could ask for anything better?
