Now i know that all of you are musicians in some way or
another so......

i use madtracker, find it to be a great program, for what im
trying to do.
I need to find a multi trk that has good editing functions
on it. right now cool edit pro is my primary editor.
I also dig the TS404 emulator

peace out....

I only use modplug tracker so far. Its a windows version of
the impulse/fast/scream trackers. Some things suck about it.
For example, if you try to amplify the song's quiet volume
by amplifying each wav sound, the sound waves will all be
cut off at the top and bottom causing yucky distortion.
Also there is no highlighted rows so you have to strain your
eyes and train yourself to know which exact row number is
the next "repetition mark". I like that you can have as many
rows in a pattern as you want. There are some good things
about it. You just have to experiment.

cheers chilled
there are a dozen artists that kick my ass with it tho
the first two that come to mind being cell and m theory
the next two being pro(xy) and delet_ER_boy.......far out

i reckon its wicked though :)
i cant use anythgin else for shit......

modplug tracker is not bad, but theres something strange
with its output. when i play the sampled loop on pattern
page, the volume is much less than real one. (somebody tell
me if i got it wrong) and problems about amplify can be
solved with other editing software like cooledit, soundforge
or something.

i use cakewalk its my primary software. so nice with
intuitional interface, but hard to edit audio files. but it
doesnt matter, cuz there are many wav-editing softwares!

I use:
Stomper - for creating drum/synth sounds
Orangator - for creating drum/synth sounds
Granulab - for creating weird random drum patterns/'bubbly'
effects
FastTracker II - for programming tracks
ACID - for programming tracks (not as good as FT2, but has
some good features)
Coagula - uh... transforming images into audio.
Cakewalk Express - for making MIDI files (for games and
such), also for sampling sounds/loops from my SBLive.
Winamp - for converting FT2 .XM files to WAV for post
production
Wavelab - post production (effects, cut-ups, etc)
Goldwave - post production (distortion, ringmod, filters)
AudioCatalyst - MP3 encoding

I think that's it...

I use....

TraxVox
-programming beats, melodies and for sequencing the whole
thing. Also use VST shit and resample the output.

Reaktor
-for synth sounds and effects.

Coagula Light
-render those images!

Cool Edit 95
-effects, mastering

Yamaha AN1x
-synth sounds (I tried to use MIDI but it still doesn't
work...but it doesn't really matter: I just record
interesting sounds into the computer and use them in the
tracker)

AudioMulch
-great for soundscapes and weird effects

That's the most important stuff I use right now.
But...sometimes I want to twiddle knobs and record the
output in a sequencer.........is Fruity Loops a good
alternative for the TraxVox tracker?

oh wait a minute, AN1x isn't software.

Damn! How could I forget to mention
Rebirth V2?!
For the 808 909 and 303 sounds off course!

Wizard MaC on 2001-08-08 15:24 [#00020418]
