i watched a very interesting program on Stonehenge tonight
(a place i'd like to visit) and they mentioned another
famous monument in Britian. in the south of englad they
said....it's a cave called the Devil's Arse....because when
the wind blows throught it ....well it makes a CERTAIN
noise....

has anyone been there/heard of it?

sounds pretty funny/interesting! =0)

hehe! i've never heard of that! do you know which county
it's in? i've visited the stonehenge area, and a few
standing stones/sacred sites, and i've invoked a few hoary
beasts to do my bidding - no biggie --

*examines the devil's arse*

it's a cave.....it was mentioned in passing as one of 4

thats an odd thing though...

wouldnt a farting (vibrating) sound have to be made from
something flexible to get that effect?

if its stone.. i dont see how that would happen?

stonehenge has been officially denied by the government --
if anyone not wearing a suit attempts to approach they are
frizzlefrazzled and sent to live in a styrophoam penal
colony :(

hahahah

i was surprised by how close they let people get .... there
was a huge summer solstice celebration with lots of peeps.

i wondered how much security surrounded the monument, etc.
because they didn't mention it. perhaps it's part of the
government cover-up!

don't put on a suit dood! =0)

the name Devil's Arse comes from the "farting" noise made
when water which has built up in the cavern drains away.

I used to live quite close to stonehenge so I know it quite
well. Not a lot of people know that it was completely
dismantled in the 60's, cleaned and replaced. They've also
found over 600 skeletons on the site. There's also two other
major circles within 10kms of stonehenge: woodhenge and
avebury. My local pub was in the middle of avebury's stone
circle. Better beer that way.

Avebury is a beautiful place; we always made a point of
visiting their on the way back from Glastonbury (it's just
down the road...the 303!!!).....

I'm so jealous you lived there...(I agree on the beer...I
can still remember having a pint, whilst sitting in the
amoungst the stones...)...

The security at Stonehenge has got a lot freer
nowdays...there was a infamous mini-riot there one year
between hippies/travllers/etc & the police...known as the
battle of the beanfield...

Even 6 or 7 years ago, it was still real strict and they had
security guards who'd appear from now-where if you got near
the actual stones...We did all manage to touch em tho, 3
guards vs 7 people made it easy....and you gotta give
StoneHenge a hug!!!...

This year, they opened it up a lot more and even allowed
ceremonies on the solstice & it was very very cool...no
trouble at all...

Can't think of the Cave you're after tho...bit of a
mystery...I've been to the Devils Punchbowl which is a very
weird waterfall, rock formation thing...

In a ultra-weird bit of spooky syncronicity, I've just had a
call from someone who's been to Stonehendge today...

and apparently the Security gaurds are still there and you
still arn't allowed to get too or touch the stones....you
can't even stand in the middle of em..:(...

Dood.....thanks for the site.....it's fantastic!!! i found
several really good sites but this is a NEW one. so thanks
=0)

jand......yea i was afraid of that! i am surprised the USED
to let people touch and be around the rocks, because it's a
natural monument. tis a bummer tho, i'd like to be able to
reach out and touch the rocks....being so old and such.

the program also mentioned the skellies as well, perhaps
human sacrifice but i suspect they can't prove anything at
this point.
