sort of :)
yesterday i was awtching a tv show about music pirates who download rather than buy....there was an interveiw with one woman who said she liked 'music that is different..classical to the experimental stuff'...and a look at the screen showed some of the artisis she liked..including aphex twin and squarepusher!
later on there was an interview with a couple of djs who 'make anything so long as its danceable'....a look at their screen showed, among other things, 'grantz graf' by 'warp'.....

yeah i saw that too.. i was gunna post this up, but you beat me to it
the scottish woman had aphex squarepusher and loads of other stuff on her comp.
the djs were kinda cool as well, but the music seemed a bit too mainstream (i.e. kylie remix...hmmm original) but they had a nice studio setup.
the program discussed how the record industry are trying to add watermarks to their songs, and employ companies such as NetPD to send emails to ISPs when their users download copyrighted stuff.
I dont think they will be able to stop file sharing tho... if you can hear it, you can stream it...pretty simple really. or just change the names e.g. tphex awin = aphex twin.

I'm so glad someone else noticed that too...it was like on-screen for milliseconds...
Probably the best all-round look at the file sharing/MP3 scene I've seen for a while...some of the terms used seemed a little loaded, "CyberPirates" for instance, but they did go into quite a lot of depth and thankfully approached the subject from both pos & neg angles...
Wish I'd videoed it now as I'm sure a lot of the cru here would've liked it...might be repeated at some stage so I'll try and get it if pos...
(wish they'd chosen a different name for the prog tho..."Attack of the CyberPirates" made me feel a little uneasy....)...

if i had recorded it then i could have sampled it, that would be pretty cool. make a song with pete waterman being melodramatic about how the record industry will implode due to the "techno nerds" i think he called them...hahahaha

yeah...the air was blue with my swearing when he was on...going on about stealing etc...
I actually admire Pete W for what he's done (altho obviously the music isn't my sort of thing)...but he came across as some mad granddad in that prog...

He was also seen on an Irish channel here. There was this program called 'sampler' on last night. It's a yoof program for us irish 20somethings and this week they were talking to 'Decal', an excellent dublin electronica outfit signed to Planet Mu. Anyway they were talking about 'defining' vinyls in their collection and Surfing on Sign Waves came up. The bastards had that beautifull vinyl edition with the class fold out of RDJ jumping down the stairs of a tube station
........they said 'most aphex twin diehards don't rate it as it's too regular'....eh, hello?!!!!!

ok more aphex on the telly bout 20 mins ago on channel5 (uk) there was an ad for a programme called uk undercover and it had some aphex...the song was one of those real mellow ones of drukqs, but i cant be arsed to find out what it is called.....looks like RDJ is taking the world over by stealth! (and a good job too, he has to be better than tony blair:)
