Passing on Ae to someone

A friend of mine just came over for a bit and I gave him Ae
to check out -- just Amber. I tried my best to quickly pick
a cd that would over all explain them...as was requested by
my friend. I hope he likes it. He's into Radiohead and U2
and that kind of thing..jazz. I'll see how he likes it next
week.

Amber is probably the best one to start someone off with I
guess...

I thought so. But he's into abstract too...likes John Cage
and difficult jazz stuff. Maybe I should have given him
Confield :/ Oh well

I know Zeus! John is absolutely one of 20th century's BEST
composers.

to me, music is a thing that is beautifull to pass on.

But, i do believe that it must be earned.
Sure I'll play music to my friends, but I won't discuss it
unless they inquire about it.

Otherwise, I let them take it in and figure out whether the
sound they are hearing is worthy.

I hate to force things upon people, I do not want a friend
to like a group just for he/she wants to be a friend. thats
just plain silly.

i think amber isnt experimental enough (if you can call it
that) to be representative of what ae do, but it is easier
to get into. i remember lending incunabula to some friend
of mine. he really liked it, listened to it for ages,
without trying any other ae. then, someday, i popped in
chiastic slide, and he couldnt believe in was the same
artists (he didnt like it though).

that's why i suggest to try tri rep++ if you want to get a
friend into ae. not to experimental/weird
(lp5-ep7-confield), not too ambient/easy (incunabula-amber).

i think amber is more experimental then inacunabula

but they are both good...

yeah tri rep was where i started... then chiastic slide,
then confield.. now im goin back to the older stuff... it is
quite different indeed!

yeah, amber is definitely more experimental than incunabula.
