Record player help! Please! Urgent!

I just bought a record player. It's an old one. It has
two arms--one has the needle and the other says "10 12 1" at
the base of it and goes near the peg at the middle of the
record. For some reason, when I turn the record player on,
it goes directly to the last track or second-to-last track.
I think it might have something to do with this mystery
second arm. How can I get it to play from the beginning?
Where does the mystery arm need to be? Please help!
Thanks in advance!

i thin the second arm has to go over where you wan tth e
needle to fall before yu press start - we had one like that
when i was a kid - it's a kind of guide arm - let me know if
i'm wrong..

When we try moving the needle on track one, it rushes across
the record to the last track! :(

We tried positioning it--it keeps going back to the same
spot! :(

I think my girlfriend figured it out! She moved the arm all
the way back, and then moved the needle from the center out
to the beginning! Woooh! :D Before, we couldn't choose the
track, now it lets us pick!

it sounds like a linear tracking record player, am I
correct? (the arm is motorized and plays the record kind of
like a CD player)

Yep! That's what it's like. My mom said it's for stacking
records up so it plays one after another. Cool!

And nope, not Astrobotnia--we were listening to Beatles
records all day. :)
