One year in highschool I had a horrible physics teacher. We did nothing but play ping pong, and every answer on the final was "A" (multiple choice). Didn't learn a goddamn thing. But that was only one year, the others weren't bad. In college my physics teacher was just boring, but I learned.

to be honest, i don't kno a whole lot about the number, but i do kno these following aspects:
1. why irrational? it houses non-terminating decimals, in other words, various decimals that go on indefinitely. (algebraicaly speaking.) irrational numbers always have non-terminating, non-patterned decimals. (i think.)
2. the reason i don't think it's infinite is because it does account for a definite amount.
3. pi is used in circular area/circumference formulas.
4. pi is a greek letter that corresponds phonetically with the roman "P"
i'm not sure it entirely holds tru, but that's my take on it.

pi it's an irrational number.. this means it cannot be expressed as a fraction p/q where p, q are integres.
a number can have infinte digits and still be a rational number.. but you identify this ones because at some point after the decimal point certain patter becomes periodic.
there are ways to turn any number with infinite periodic decimals to a fraction of the p/q form.
for example
the number x=.345345345345...
we have 100x=345.345345345...
then 1000x-x=345.0
that is 999x=345
then x is 345/999
but you can't do this with an irrational number.
pi is an irrational number

yah, an example of a rational numba wit infinite digits would be 1/3 in decimal form; 3.33333333333...
the digits are infinite but hold a tru pattern & repeat, but the same cannot be established of irrational numbs

ah ah ... yes pi is c/d
but c and d will never be integer numbers (... -2 -1 0 1 2 ....) at the same time.
and dozier there ARE a lot of those numbers. squareroot of 2 is one of those numbers e is another one.
squareroot of any prime number (xcept 1) is another one of those.
in fact, between 0 and 1 there are infinite numbers of that kind.

and now that you mention that let me make an observation..
the number 0.99999999999....
is 1
1/3=0.3333... 3*(0.333333)=0.999999
but 3*(1/3)=1

If u download a maths program (sorry can't remember which one) just put the symbol pie in and say how many decimals I think the max u can have is about 1,000,000,000,000 And leave your computer running all night and it will show u those decimals....then if u r still bored memorise them
