WTF are you talking about?? And vjing. . . is not like
djing. A "VJ" is short for a "video jockey". An example of
a vj is Carson Daly. You've got the right sexy looks to be
a dj, but are you sure you want to be one?

thats not a VJ man...

i dont know the word for it... but yeah,,, its not VJ

but how would you do it?

well.. start making demo visual clips to some music you
like, and show people and see if they like it

then make some for people you know etc

i always throw parties where i do things like you describe,
but i think it's silly to call it "VJ'ing" - in no time
everyone will be doing it

it really is a beautiful art form ... not the mtv carson
shit , but the artform of projecting video and transforming
it live.

whatever you want

the last thing i did i just had these pictures and
animations i made of buildings falling laterally and
spinning, crushing eachother then the pieces flying and
spinning in the air going all over the place, some trains
crashing.. that was really wonderful. i had cap iv in the
playlist so i rolled the train animatnion and it went so
perfectly, i just sped it up w/ the song, stopping and
pausing and kicking the stool the display thign was on and
using a vibrating massage on it to cause a motion blur
effect, and it was just this animation just repeating w/ the
beat, i orignally hadn't planned it for that song but it
went perfectly after i made it go much faster nearing the
ending breakdown, i turned on some strobes and started
spinning some things in the air that were bright and started
talking really fast in the microphone to the beat of the
song while the trains just kept repeating, so i shutup and
played loop of the traisn just crashing so it looked like an
endless chain of trains just crashing and flipping all over
the place, that probably took me a month of work -- but it
was because the animation started at the beginning of the
beat that allowed my friends to associate it with the song.
its like a dj that plays a sample, it's just like that.
think of it just like a sample. also played some venetian
snares and flipped some animations of my shaking my head
insanely across 2 tv's and the projector, people really
freaked out because it was going so fast and i'd recorded it
really slow and just sped it up, it looked really scary.
[stopping]

ok i probably started ramblign but thats basically it, just
whatever you want to be seen. and this was all probably of
no help. eh.

hehe what software or hardware do u use

after i sketch+pen my drawings i take the frames into adobe
photoshop to edit, i animate them with paint shop pro's
animation studio, lasty use virtualdub to do any additional
tiny things to the video file.

probably what takes me the longest is editing all of the
frames. the train animation is the most compelx thing ive
ever done it was about 400+ frames

coool i have heard about virtual dub its great for cleaning
up and fixing video to look better... so im guessing you
just manually project your work from a film projecter so
most of the mixing of footage is done before.... im thinking
about using vj software such as arkaos for beginners to mix
and add effects to video live. what do u think about that
route?

Some of you were a bit rude to Mr Tenzin about this, weren't
you?

I went to see Coldcut play live a couple of years ago, and
they were VJing live using laptops. It was really good.

They wrote a piece of software to use in Vjing, and it's
called VJamm.

jand im still interested in seeing some of ur vj work... i
have done a lot of research and am really interested in the
software known as PD (pure data) becaues u can write your
own filters through code, are there any other software which
allows third party to make or add their own new filters?
