hevquip from somewhere in the u.s. on 2001-03-21 20:19 [#00001301]

it would be cool if a sex tape surfaced with the chicks from
the group in it.

hedtwin from Manchester, England. on 2001-03-21 20:48 [#00001302]

Lol, that would be very funny.

I just keep getting these images of the three guys walking
down this road, in public, were everyon would notice them,
smoking a big phat chronic blunt!!! Funny

along with RDJ, i'm a BIG S Club 7 fan. they're one of my
fave pop bands. i think one of the reasons there's such a
big fuss about this is because with their young target
audience, they're supposed to be positive, anti-drug role
models. oh well, to err is to be human.

hevquip: who's your favorite S Club 7 lass? i like Hannah.
who apparently is "screaming out for more" (*not* to be
taken the wrong way) in the "S Club Party" video.

hedtwin: apparently they were doing it in the dark but the
police noticed them, aye?

whats S club 7??thanks.......

hevquip from somewhere in the u.s. on 2001-03-23 23:54 [#00001392]

s club 7 is a britpop band. oddly enough they also have a tv
show on the fox family channel...

think from lincoln,ne on 2001-03-24 00:06 [#00001398]

are they "crappy" like lots of european music? i.e. oasis,
travis and so on....
ill try and catch the tv show,,give ti a shot. what night is
it on?

Torley Wong from Vernon, BC, Canada / WWW.TORLEY.COM on 2001-03-24 00:21 [#00001403]

think: depends who you are and what your tastes in music
are... :)! i certainly don't think they're crappy. in fact,
i think S Club 7 ROCK. but you might not find them to your
personal preference, that's all. chances are if you don't
usually like bubblegum pop like Britney Spears (i like
Christina Aguilera more) and Backstreet Boys (i like N' Sync
more), then you won't like them.

Hannah rules!!! :-)

DAMN DAMN DAMN

I ALMOST FORGOT

there is this sooo funny episode of the "S Club 7 in LA"
show in which they do an interpretation of avant-garde
experimental music (on acoustic instruments, though -- shame
they didn't have access to Kid606's gear or something) for
young child prodigies in a school for the gifted. almost
like a kiddy poppy version of Stockhausen. i forget what
episode it is but it's worth a view. the whole episode is
about interaction with young geniuses.

of course, the S Club 7 don't know what to do in their
concert and... OMG you have to see it for yourself, it's
SUCH a funny parody of academic "serious music"!!!

they are always full of happy messages (especially Hannah)
and always cheer me up. the worst harm they can do to you is
make you laugh.

bwahahaha

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-24 01:34 [#00001410]

Torley, i find it interesting you have such an open mind to
all music, personally, S club 7 is trash to me, imo the most
mass-marketed band on the planet, but to each their own! :)
Ps. bjork on the oscars tomorrow night!

Torley Wong from Vernon, BC, Canada / WWW.TORLEY.COM on 2001-03-24 02:27 [#00001415]

Ross: well, thank you :). and i TOTALLY agree, to each
his/her own. that's the best way.

of course, i don't like *all* music, and although i might
respect the artists as people, i find i can't force myself
to enjoy their sounds. for example, i really can't stand
Britney Spears' voice although Max Martin's (her producer)
instrumentals by themselves are alright... BTW, he has also
produced for:

-Ace of Base
-Backstreet Boys
-Celine Dion
-Shania Twain
-N' Sync
etc.

if i'm not mistaken. goes to show why some people correctly
believe that a lot of pop music nowadays sounds the same...
'cause it's this puppetmaster (no offense meant to him --
Mr. Martin is simply very influential in controlling pop
music) pulling the strings! i don't like the music of that
new girl group, Dream, either, although i'm sure they're
nice young ladies... hard-working and grateful for Puff
Daddy's help in launching their careers. O-Town doesn't
strike me as being particularly imaginative either. and even
though Backstreet Boys are the originals, i just like N'
Sync more. my personal preference. i also like music that's
a wee bit harder like Rammstein and Slipknot, and some
speed/death metal ;).

what i like about S Club 7:

-positive, happy messages which cheer me up when i feel
down
-more creative-than-usual arrangements with catchy tunes (in
the world of pop music, anyway)
-the fact they're not annoyingly squeaky-clean like Britney
but they do generally live a healthy, realistic lifestyle
(as portrayed on their TV show at least) which inspires
youth to do the same
-those nifty dance routines
-they're British and talk with cool accents
-HANNAH!!!

and i'll be honest, i like a lot of "Intelligent Dance
Music" and "Braindance" artists like Aphex Twin (obviously),
but i find some post-Aphex digerati to be really pretentious
and full of arrogant snobbery in thinking they're too good
for any other kind of music that doesn't reek of high
elitism. CHINSTROKERS i think is the term, shades of the
classical snobs i used to know :o). to paraphrase what the
Hartnoll Bros. of Orbital once said, that kind of negativity
(which has led to many a flame war on the Net -- thankfully
in this community, we are reasonable people) drags the whole
scene down. i like it when seeming opposites are paired...
such as, William Orbit and Mirwais (two notable
"underground" producers) with Madonna. but overall, i tend
to talk more about what i like than what i don't like.
that's just simple me.

pardon me if any of the aforementioned are gross
generalizations, i didn't mean it that way :)!

finally, Bjork is awesome. what are some of your fave tunes
of hers, Ross? i like "Bachelorette" (wicked string section
which was later influential to Mu-ziq's Royal Astronomy) and
"Human Behavior". she supposedly will be performing with
Thom Yorke of Radiohead at the Oscars! sometimes, she gets
too high-pitched for my taste but i'll give it to her that
she has an awfully *unique* voice and i like her producer
too, Mark Bell (formerly of LFO of course -- the pioneering
techno artists, NOT the boy band!).

hevquip from halfway between here and there on 2001-03-24 02:50 [#00001419]

a show that i think is funny is in 2gether on mtv. it's
basically a satire on the boy bands out there.

Torley Wong from Vernon, BC, Canada / WWW.TORLEY.COM on 2001-03-24 03:38 [#00001421]

hevquip: i used to watch that show a bit! i saw the original
TV movie too... it's so tragic that the youngest member,
Michael Guccione, recently died at age 16 :(. a real loss of
a young talent.

but by the way, what makes the show even funnier is that the
music is made by some of the *real* boy band producers
behind the Backstreet Boys and N' Sync! no wonder that
"Calculus" song and all their others sound so authentic,
instrumentally speaking!

i'd like to see some more IDM spoofs, that's for sure.

art imitates life... or is that the other way around?

Torley wong....
Was he the guy who made the hoax (rare duet, feat. Robert
Miles)
or did he choose that name because of that hoax?.....

no, that's the artist, though he himself never had anything
to do with creating the hoax. i've lost respect for him
knowing that he's into backstreet boys and stuff. "what a
fag" as the kids say.

how dareth the show S Club 7 be brought up within the
hallowed halls of Aphextwin.nu. we'll have no such activity
with that broadcast. it's comedy is worth its weight in
BILE.
