how can you all be so negative towards a piece of work you
havn't heard and is still 3 months away?

ross on 2001-07-18 07:10 [#00016112]

who was being negative here? a lot of us are very excited
and i'm not judging it at all..i'll have to wait for when it
arrives

This would be REALLY cool:
If Richard's drukqs album was extremely technical and
complicated, and then in some playful naive voice (aka funny
little man or something similar) he modestly and
nonchalantly one ups einstein and newton and hawking, and
totally reveals his true genius by uniting all of physics
into a single theory (just as playful lyrics to a song).
Then he includes all this complicated math equations that
baffle experts and take a year to figure out how they proved
everything. And yet Richard tries to avoid public attention,
and returns to his seclusion, hardly caring about the
results of his revelation, and not caring about his own
ingeniousness. The historical literature that would be
written about him would be hilariously classic. The oddest
genius.

Actually that would be pretty cool. Kinda like the samples
on the Pi soundtrack that were taken from the movie in
between each track.

I actually didn't really like that movie. It ignored
theoretical mathematical concepts like chaos theory, where
it would be practically impossible to predict the stock
market. And I don't know what the value of pie had to do
with anything...

I was never negative towards it, I was just angry and
negative at the fact that almost EVERYONE had to post a new
topic based purely on the new album coming out, that is
really annoying and unwanted.

Yeah, what the hell DID Pi have to do with it????

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-19 05:12 [#00016440]

m....MwMw wwW(m M m)Www wMwM....m: You write it like this
"Pi" not "Pie". two compeltely different things. And The
number Pi, {3.14 and so on} wasn't specificly linked to the
stock market, it was the relation between the endless string
of numbers that seems so impossible, cause infinity is an
impossible idea since there is no such thing in reality, our
universe. So, it has to do with that, the relation between
the two things, its like a "magic number" or something in
the movie, I own that film, its amazing in my opinion. Watch
is closley, and youll understand.

You can't really think of Pi too technically. If you start
picking apart the different ideas in it based on your own
knowledge you will miss some of the major points of the
movie, being mathematically accurate isn't essential to it.
It's the ideas that are conveyed with it...

try to watch it again with an open mind and you may like
it...otherwise its like watching Star Trek and saying: "Hey!
They can't actually go at light speed because..."

On a tangeant (more math!) Pi doesn't compare to Requiem for
a Dream, anyone agree/disagree?

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-19 06:03 [#00016445]

no, I think your right {along with what I said previously}
about Pi. Or rather watching it. But uhm, Requiem For A
Dream is excellent, but not as good in my opinion. What
about the doom generation¿ I loved that one too.

Ohhhh! I completely misinterpreted it, I actually thought it
was about pie, not pi. Now it makes a bit more sense...
I think aphex will put his evil grinning face on einsteins
head this time for his cover art. Then the scientific
community will be awaiting his next psychotic album to see
more of his brilliant thinking, any attempts at
communicating with him on a personal basis failing. In each
next album, he'd reveal another piece of mind boggling
scientific theory centuries ahead of his time, baffling
experts. Yet they would be able to put his theories to use
somehow, making a far more efficient form of energy with
which to run civilization. His music would be the worlds
only link to his ingenious psychotic mind, spending all of
his time in seclusion.

In some sick way i just hope i releases 30 tracks of the
same high frequency white noise that no one could stand
listening to.

and them some "hip" people will say that its a modern
masterpiece and everyone should buy it.

but unfortunately i think it will be good.
